They had a preview for this before American Wedding. Comes out Oct. 3 and I can't wait.

This may very well be the funniest in the series yet. Lots of good spoofs and pop culture, just like in the first two.

Only this time it isn't the Wayans brothers doing the directing, producing and writing.

No, this time we get the king of movie spoofs and an expert at modern pop culture references.

David Zucker (who brought us Airplane, Naked Gun, Baseketball and other hilarious romps) is working with Kevin Smith (of Jay and Silent Bob fame). Zucker is directing, Smith is exec. producer and writer.

I wondered why Leslie Nielsen was cast and why some of its gags seemed straight out of Airline or J&SB movies. Than I checked IMDB.

IMDB predicts that even without the Wayans brothers returning, this may be the biggest of them yet (and a fourth already is in the works). Here's what they say:

Will the franchise succeed without the Wayans on board? Erm, with Zucker working off a Kevin Smith screenplay, chances are this chapter could be the biggest yet (credit the early marketing blitz here, too). Meanwhile, Keenen, Marlon and Shawn are working on a competing spoof for Revolution Studios, but the project is showing no signs of life thus far.

I can't wait. And if the Wayons have a new spoof of their own, well I can't wait for that --- if it happens.

I'm a sucker for this kind of comedy.

With Smith writing it sounds like it could be another chance for Affleck to play a role where he tries to convert a lesbian.

I don't think Affleck will be in this one. :)

Anna Farrs, the lead in the first two is back. Plus Charlie Sheen, Darrell Hammond (SNL), Leslie Nielsen, Pamela Anderson, Jenny McCarthy, Eddie Griffin, a whole slew of cameos (Redman, LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, George Carlin, Master P, Ja Rule).

I think this one will do well, given the comedic experience of the men behind the camera and especially Zucker with his long list of great spoofs.

So where does the Wayans bro. have to do with SM3?

Are they in it at all? I hope so.

They have absolutely nothing to do with Scary Movie 3. Apparently they are supposed to be doing a similar style movie, but nothing had been made of it yet.

Wayans also are making "Homey The Clown" next year. Hopefully it'll do well, so they can spinoff a few other In Living Color characters. Perhaps get Jim Carrey to do a "Fire Marshall Bill" movie.

I think with all the star power in this one, it'll do well. But I don't think it'll do as well as the first one. $157 million gross is a steep target. The second one only made $71 millions gross. Still not bad, but still only half of the original.

dola,

According to imdb.com, they's already a 4th in works by Zucker (but a non-Kevin Smith screenplay)

wow, Homey the Clown! Sweet. A whole new generation can work "Homey don't play that." into their lexicon.

I'm genuinely excited about this.

From a question and answer session on the view askew message boards June 20-21

http://www.viewaskew.com/newboard/messages492/124.html

Kevin Smith has said that he did not work on Scary Movie 3. Bryan Lynch, who wrote and directed the view askew production "Big Helium Dog" did a rewrite on the script, but the majority of the script is by Pat Proft (Naked Gun) and Craig Mazin (Rocketman).

In addition, Proft and Mazin also wrote Scary Movie 4, which is being shot now, and will be released 6 months after Scary Movie 3.

Wow! Pamela Anderson and Jenny McCarthy in the same movie? Why do we need both?
