View Full Version : 2003 FOFC in-house pick'em challenge, preseason week 1

Here's a game I want to run for the NFL season. Pretty simple, it's a pick'em game that we will keep in here. No need to go to an outside site to have fun, right? Once a week, I will start a thread with the NFL spreads for the coming week. Your goal: pick 4 winners and place them in order of your confidence in them. 4 games, only 4, no more, no less. You will then win or lose points depending on if you got your games right. Game #1 is worth 4 points, #2 is worth 3 points, #3 is worth 2 points, and #4 is worth 1 point. For example, if you get your game #1 right, you get 4 points, if not, you lose 4 points. Negative results are possible.

Here's what I have written down for now in terms of rules:
Simply pick the winner against the spread for 4 games in order of your confidence.
Points will be given or taken from your season total score depending on if you picked the winner or not in your 4 games.
Game #1 is worth 4 points, #2 is worth 3 points, #3 is worth 2 points, and #4 is worth 1 point.
If a game ends in a tie with the spread, you don't win or lose any point for it.
Your picks must be posted in this thread before kickoff of the earliest of your 4 games. Failure to do so will invalidate your week of play (you will get no points).
You can start playing at any time during the course of the season.
I will usually post the results of the week (and the season so far) on Tuesday in a new thread that will include the spreads for the coming week.
I plan on taking my spreads from intertops.com. Once they have been posted in here, they will not change over the course of the week.
DO NOT EDIT YOUR PICKS once you have posted them in the thread, unless you sent me a PM to let me know.
I might add more notes to this if necessary. I have not set a maximum number of players, whoever wants in can play, as long as they follow the rules and post their picks in here, following the format explained below.

I know that preseason is a crapshoot, but we will reset before the regular season starts. Preseason play is simply to help me work out the kinks and see if my excel setup is viable. Thanks for playing even though you could care less about preseason results. this should be fun during the regular season.

Anybody up for this?!? I'll post the spreads right below and after that, I'll post my picks for that first preseason week to give you an example of how I'd like to see them. Comments about your picks won't be a problem, just try to start off with your four games, then write your comments under. That way I'll see your picks first and this will make my life easier...
