What about the ability to change tactics at the half? Say for instance you are using a 352 and losing by 1 or 2 goals, you could change to a 343 to have better shot of scoring, or 433 to keep the other team from scoring, but still giving your team a shot at scoring. Plus if you are playing PIC you could change to MOTS, kind of like going from passive attack to a more aggressive attack. What does anybody think of this?

I of course like the idea of making HT more like real soccer, and being able to change tactics at the half sounds logical. I don't think I'd change the PIC/MOTS....I mean, if you set the game as a PIC, you shouldn't be allowed change it if you don't like how things are going midway through.

However, I think a system where you could change tactics, formations, and players (FIFA allows 3 subs...) would be overly taxing on the HT servers and probably in the long run make it crash more.

Man am I out of it.

In need to see a prescription first. Yes a prescription can be substituted by a twinkie if need be.

It sounds nice and all but it doesn't fit with how Hattrick is. To me, a big part of the enjoyment of it has to do with the simplicity. Is it extremely simplistic? Definitely. But that allows more people to play it even if they don't know or don't care about most soccer things.

If you wanted more strategy and complexity, you might try another game. I like the strategic aspect of WES but, again, that leads to there being less people in WES than Hattrick.

I play other online soccer games, MZ, FM, and SL(with a bit of humour), but my favorite is Hattrick. I still would like to see somthing like aggressive attack, maybe a style of midfield and defender play like passive, all out or psycho. Maybe mix and match and see what they do.

I've tinkered with ManagerZone. The fact that lineup setting is visual is very nice. Otherwise, their user interface majorly. I don't mind the fact that each player has a ceiling on particular skills but I can't stand the fact that you don't get to know what it is (I wouldn't even mind my coach mailing me to say that Joe Schmoe seemed to have gotten as good as he will at a particular skill).

Sunday League is pretty cool and I played with it for a few seasons. Ultimately, though, unless you're a paying manager, I have a tough time seeing how you will compete beyond the first season or two. Their tactic stuff wasn't bad, though.

I've tried out FootieManager and I think they introduce some great concepts (the symbols/colours that may help players play together better is just awesome). However, I'm disappointed with the lack of feedback about my team. I got beat terribly the first 2-3 games of the season. I switched a forward and a defender in. Now, we're at least competitive, if not occasionally even able to win. Why? I have no clue.

I can see the merit of what you're saying in this last post ("I still would like to see somthing like aggressive attack, maybe a style of midfield and defender play like passive, all out or psycho. Maybe mix and match and see what they do.") and I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities for how Hattrick is. On the other hand, I don't know about the suggestions from the original post ("What about the ability to change tactics at the half? Say for instance you are using a 352 and losing by 1 or 2 goals, you could change to a 343 to have better shot of scoring, or 433 to keep the other team from scoring, but still giving your team a shot at scoring. I think too much complexities may cause Hattrick to lose its charm and wide appeal.
