View Full Version : Help Me Name This Arcade Game

Gah... this is driving me crazy.

Back in the late 80's there was an arcade game along the same lines as APB (http://coinop.org/ImageViewer.aspx/8a9d88a6-fff6-4310-bce5-e78d4fa63eea) . The purpose of this game was to take part in a cross country race. It was a top down view, and you could steer your car off road in an attempt to avoid being stopped by the police. Your car also behaved differently when driving on dirt (and possibly gravel) roads as opposed to the main paved highways.

Anybody know the game of which I speak?

Cam,

I don't know if this is it, but my first thought from the description was Out Run. You drove a Ferrari cross-country and had to weave in and out of traffic. I believe you could get chased by the cops, but I don't know if they could stop you. Is this it?

Know the game, don't know the name. Not Out-Run.

Edit: I think the game I'm thinking of is Chase H.Q.

Good try, but that's not the one I was thinking of. This one had a top down view and it wasn't your standard "race" game.

I remember this game! It was pretty fun. Alas, it's not the one I'm thinking of.

I'm probably not old enough to remember it, and I didn't spend enough time in the arcade, though this game does sound rather interesting in and old school kinda way.

Cam, is this the one where you drove through different states, and when you drove off road it would leave little tire tracks on the grass?

I just can't remember the name. Grrrrrr!
