View Full Version : WOOHOO! Out of debt.

I've been in debt for roughly 2/3rds of my hattrick life (maybe 4 months) thanks to an early stadium renovation, and a lack of both financial accumen and decent youth pulls. About six weeks ago I pulled a solid keeper out of my passable youth squad, and I'd listed him a couple times, unsuccessfully while continuing to train him. Last week he popped to excellent, and, although he is easily the best player on my team, I had to list him once again in the hopes of taking me out of debt.
Tonight, he sold for $712K, which not only takes me out of the red, but gives me a couple hundred thousand to play with, for the first time in what seems like a million years. I had listed him at $700K, and considering the state of the market, I didn't expect I was ever going to get more than maybe $550K out of him, but the US market is so barren of excellent keepers that I actually got two bids on him. Something that might have helped is value is that he was always appraised rather highly by the computer....I've seen excellent keepers with values ~$400K, but my guy didn't pop until he passed the $500 mark, so the buyer may think he's gotten a keeper who's closer to popping then he is.
Doubtless, this isn't exciting to anyone outside of myself, but I've been in debt for so long that I suddenly feel like Rupert Murdoch. Now if olnly I could remember what you're supposed to do with free cash...my first mission is to find someone who even resembles a clown to take over for the nasty fellow who's been driving my TS into the ground while my hands were tied by debt.
Cheers to everyone else suffering through debt, and best of luck and wishes.
Excellent keeper for 712K, not bad. Congrats.

After this weeks cup match I will finally be out of debt. The best part is that there's a chance I could get yet another home cup match as this D.IV team seems like a decent matchup for me.

Only cause it has taken me like 4 seasons to actually figure out what I was doin. ;) Seriously at the end of last season was the first time I ever played anyone towards middle, offensive, defensive. But hey an excellent midfield, with other well-rounded ratings at other places, I should be able to promote this year.
That and I'm cheap. ;)

I know I would have done much better in my HT career if I could only say that.

Yeah but I had around 400k sitting in the bank before the youth pull. I'm proud that I've been able to keep my finances in good shape. Something that not everyone in hattrick can claim.
Silly me. I didn't know the goal was to make money, I thought it was to win games. ;)

And how did you get that 400K? Possibly, Tom Sanders?

I don't disagree that you've probably done a better job than most of us at managing your finance but, please, don't hurt your arm patting your back when you've been more lucky than most with a random number generator.

Whatever, I give up. Daed you're right I've been blessed. The hattrick gods REALLY smiled upon me when they gave me my team. Which sucked. Badly. They REALLY smiled upon me last season when if I woulda won I probably would've promoted, but instead I lose after my star middie and then my star defender get hurt/red cards all in the span of one week. They REALLY smiled upon me when I had yet another chance at winning a game that would've allowed me to promoted, but nooo the guy buys an exclellent midfield in the span of a week. They SMILED upon me when I got Tom Sanders, and Daniel Lucero. Yeah I would definatly say I've had it really easy. But whatever, it seems like you dislike me for some reason daed, but i don't really care anymore.
Congrats on gettin out of debt thesloppy.
Edit: Typos
If you had your finances all together, why didn't you just replace the injured players?

The defender was only injured for that one week. And we played a brand new team the next week.

Its true, the reasons Illinifan hasn't been upgrading his team with his cash are because he is the one who finances most of the war. Sadly, for all you against him, he will probably rule over you soon. Just warning you.

Have you finished paying for the alcohol from the pre-game victory parties yet?

At which point have I said a single thing about you have had it easy? I've been luckier than most FOFCer. I was given a pretty talented team and was plopped into an easier division than most (it's gotten significantly tougher this season so I'm getting my ass kicked weekly). So, no, I have no issues with having anyone having had it "easy".
I don't like or dislike you anymore than I do sloppy. Frankly, I'm not sufficiently familiar with him or you (besides the fact that Tom Sanders is the greatest thing since sliced bread and Dean Houston) yet. However, I *do* have an issue with somebody being happy with their accomplishment in the game only to have somebody decide that they must piss in his Wheaties.

Those kids at camp always told me Wheaties and piss was the breakfast of champions though :(.

Due to some issues with collection agencies, I am not allowed to comment on this matter. However, I will say that next week, (hopefully) following my next cup match, there will be another Pre-Victory, Victory Celebration!
