I'm fond of this sort of thing, but confess I haven't even given any thought to this one. But, we've had some interest in these before, so we'll give it a go.

Your mission: Build a word search of 8x8 letters that includes as many FOFC member names as possible.

-Names are included if they can be found in any direction in the grid, including any diagonal. (Standard word search style)

-To score any points, your response must include at least one name each reading left, right, up, and down, and must include at least one name on each of the two main diagonals (at least one reading either NE or SW, and at least one reading either NW or SE).

-For a forum member's name that includes one or more numerals at the end, you may ignore the numerals, and use only the letters.

-For each name included, you score 1 point for each 1,000 posts the forum member has, rounded down. (e.g. 2,785 posts is worth 2 points)

Please forgive the apparent self-gratification in basing this on post count... I'm just fond of the idea of having different target words worth different points, especially with a high value on a word that includes a potential "throwaway" letter like Q.

So far, I think I have a legal score of 61... double-checking.

Must. Resist. Puzzle.

Must. Go. To. Bed. Now.

Looks like another good puzzle Quik. I will have to try to break your record sometime tomorrow though.

Hmmmm... 50 looks, no entries. Too tough?

I will give this one a go on my lunch hour. I don't think this would be that tough, but we shall see.

I spent about 15 minutes, between poker hands, coming up with my first shot at it. I'm sure there are better scores to be had, though.

Only got to 55 on my first try...of course I missed the numerical ignore rule.

Clarification - if a member's name contains another's, do they both count or do we need another instance of that name?

Hmmm... you must have noticed something I didn't. Let's count them both - a tribute to your cleverness.

Ahhh... I see the name-in-name now... but I didn't use the longer one in mine.

I figure everyone will find it eventually.

Do I read this right that people with fewer than 1000 posts are worth 0 points?

I think I've got 57 here.

What about a member who's name starts with a number?

Correct, for purposes of this puzzle.

Allegedly, these people have some value in other ways - perhaps a human beings, perhaps simply as repositories of potentially valuable carbon.

But in this puzzle, zero.

Hmmm... let' see... TRO is within SHORTY and TROYF, and BEE is within BUZZBEE, too. Just in case anyone might find those useful.

Whoops, missed in TRO in SHORTY. BEE is also in JEEBERD.

Gotta be careful around here.

Too bad Anrhydeddu is too long. It would be the PERFECT fofc name to use for this kind of thing! :D :D :D
