With the determination of men on a mission; 3ric, DFast, and nilodor have finished the long thought impossible task of making 30 years of draft files for FOF; all in just under a year to complete.
If enough people use these, it might be an option to sticky this message so newbies will know where to go to get them.
Good work guys.
How do I use the fof2002 editor in TCY?

Just checking... this means for FOF 4, correct?
(For those who have no followed this project all along, and may not be familiar with the abilities and limitations of the FOF series)
Actually, the files (in FOF4 format as QS said) are easily converted to FOF2 and FOF2001/2002. The draft file editor has a conversion function which allows you to create three versions of the same draft file. The last name and first name files that comes with each draft file can be used with all versions of FOF.
If there's enough people requesting these, then I can do separate archives for download.

I don't have FOF4. I would still really like to start up a franchise with your 1970s roster and progress using your created draft files. Is this at all possible using FOF2002? If so, how?
By the way, thanks for all the hard work.

ok, so the editor lets you convert the draft files to any version of the game: CHECK
now, here is what I want to do, I want to strt a dynasty with the 2003 roster, but I want to be able to use the archived draft files. so that during my dynasty I can have the benefit of seeing all my old favorites getting drafted into my made up teams.....
does that make sense?
would it be easier to edit each draft file, or to edit the 2003 roster file to say, make IT the 1969 file or something?
With FOF4, it's easy to start a career in whatever year you want using any roster file. You set the starting year separately from the roster file you import, so no editing is necessary.
With the other games, FOF2 and FOF2001/2002, you cannot import a roster file or set the beginning year so you have to settle for the default starting year and use the draft files from that year.

Very cool, guys. Let me know if there's anything I can do to make this easier.

That's a loaded question. If I recall, there were numerous complaints and frustrations when this process began early this year. Maybe someone can find the related threads? I know of one, how about making all of the players files exportable/importable via .csv format? :D
I haven't used any of the historical files for FOF yet, because I'm busy enough to only be able to play a little of one game at a time, and I've been playing OOTP most of the summer. But I hope to give this a try this fall, and I just want to thank the folks who have created these files.

one big applaus for the people making this possible:

I have a hard time seeing guys I like go to different teams.
For instance, I am using the Steelers. I finished pretty well my second year. I missed getting Jack Ham in the draft. He was voted rookie of the year and after 3 years, continues to be a force in the league. I am sure that I will miss opportunities to get Lambert and Swann as they come around. However, the chance to get guys like Payton, Rice, and LT makes me very anxious to play out all of the draft files.
Great work guys.
One point of interest. Does everybody else notice that the stats are pretty gaudy? There are quite a few 4000 passing yard qbs every year. Dawson, Unitas, Bradshaw. Also, I wouldn't think that Frenchy Fuqua would lead the league in rushing ever. The sack record has already been broke by Deacon (just desserts for him...hehe). It kinda makes it interesting to see where the 80s and 90s players will stack up.
It's very exciting to see the new teams take shape. To see Riggings go to the Seahawks, Ham to the Panthers, etc. The early 80s will be very interesting once these guys start to retire. A definite rewrite of virtual history.
"No, Franco Harris never made it to the Hall of Fame, but Freeman McNeil did!"

Hats off to you guys. Damn, that's impressive.
These guys did a great job. However after playing about 20 years I am experiencing "MASSIVE" amounts of injuries.
I only hire coaches with excellent in aviod injuries.
I only draft and FA guy with over 70 in endurance.
I set my training room time in training camp to about 2:30 hours.
This also was not a 1 year phenomena. In the past 10 years I could barely field a team with at one point 10 guys questionable or doubtful and 10 guys out. (5 with season ending injuries).
One wierd thing is that my O-line or secondary never get injured.
My D-line and skilled O guys go down constantly. I see this also happen league wide. I wonder if it has something to do with the modified files?
I do not see this if I start a league with Sol's rosters.
Maybe Jim could let us know if this could be the case??

I agree...there's like 6 QBs during the season who are FAs and they have injuries over 20+ weeks.

I think this would be better as a sticky... if it eventually falls of the first page (which it will), newcomers would have a hard tiem knowing about it.

I agree that it should be a sticky but if not at least put a link on the front page.

What about a new, read-only forum named "FAQ" where the mods can move stickied threads like this one? Threads about utilities and other files.
I second the FAQ motion !
