Since I just bought Madden 2004 for the PC, I now need a new gamepad with the 2nd analog joystick. I've been using the Gravis Gamepad pro and that one just had the actual gamepad. Any help would be appreicated.

For Madden purposes I would stay away from microsoft corldess gamepads. I bought one last year and it occasionally sends an errant signal which can fuck up a play.

If you want a gamepad with the button setup etc of a PS2(which you may or may not) Logitech is about to come out with one in a few weeks.

Actually, I do like the PS2 setup. It might be worth it to wait. I guess I can live without the playmaker ability in Madden (I'm not even sure I'm going to use it)

I have a gravis game pad for my pc, its identical to the ones for the PS2, cost me about 20 bucks at EB. I have a blast playing madden 2002 with it.

speaking of playing madden on the PC: has anyone tried using a joystick/flightstik to play it? I have a decent one that I rarely ever use....I was thinking of trying it in madden for better player control...thoughts?

I like to Gravis Gamepad Pro (if I can't make a decision, I'll probably still use, or at least until the new Logiteck gamepad) but it doesn't have the second analog stick and components of Madden 2004 involve the right analog stick.

I'm probably gonna play "owner mode" till the new gamepad comes out.

Maybe I'm missing something important, doesn't the left side 8-way control work the same as the little joystick control on the right hand side of the gravis gampad?

I've always assumed it did, since its basically a flat joystick....perhaps they have the wired/coded differently?

No, they can be different controls.

Oh I understand they CAn be different controls, what I'm asking is, why can't the flat thumb pad on the gravis gamepad pro be used to do whatever they want/need the second analog joystick for?

The second analog joystick now has an impact in the new playmaker feature. You can make changes/hot route adjustments, change direction of running plays, and adjust parts of the defense using the right joystick. The Gravis Gamepad Pro still works, it's just that all of those options will be disabled.

Anyone have a Gravis Eliminator Aftershock?

I got the Logitech Wingman RumblePad, and that's worked out pretty well. It was really the only one around since I couldn't find the Gravis Eliminator in EB or Babbages when I got the game at the mall (bastards). Though I'm happy with my choice.

Tell us more. Can you use the playmaker feature? What is the price?

I also have the Logitech Wingman Rumble. Yes, you can use the playmaker feature, since there are two sticks. Since the buttons are set up kind of like a Sega Genesis, stiff-arming and spinning is kind of awkward, but playable....

It cost me about $40 Canadian. If you have a PS2 controller, you can buy an adapter.. one of my friends has one.

I recently heard about buying an adapter for a PS2 controller for the PC, but don't know the specifics. I actually like the PS2 controller so that might be an option.

The only thing that I have to wonder is with the PS2 adaptor is there serious lag time? It seems like with those conversions, and how the PS2 isn't designed to be used for PC gaming, there might be some issues.

Yes, you can use playmaker, since it has a right analog. As said earlier stiff-arm and spin a little wierd since it is set up like a Genesis controller (6 buttons on the face), but not so bad when you get used to it.

$30 US, but I suspect it is that expensive because of the rumble (which doesn't seem to function in Madden), but there doesn't seem to be a comparable Logitech pad without rumble feature.

Yeah, rumble doesn't work for any game for me :( It works in the controller setup thing in Windows, but not in game. hehe.

Another thing odd about the gravis eliminator is that the 2 analog controllers are at the top of the controller, above the buttons. I think that's a first for any gamepad.

Mike - so I payed an extra amount of money for a feature that doesn't work? Greeeat ;).
