View Full Version : Am I Missing Something?

Not having been around for even a whole season yet, I am not sure if I am missing some basic part of the game or something from my results. I have seen other squads critiqued, so I thought I would 'ask the experts' and the others who will say they aren't one, but still have more insight than I.

My team is good for having played only 11 series games (due in part to luck and in part to a fortunate idiot transfer incident), but not REALLY good I guess. I am only 1-1-1 in series despite having the highest NSI. I have lost to the defending champs (can accept that) when I had higher stats and barely beat another when I had MUCH better stats.

I was down 0-4 in one game (lost 2-4) and 0-2 in another (won 3-2), so I was wondering if I am doing something wrong to get behind so much so often, or just unlucky.

Is there anything you see that is hurting or needs addressing, besides Bryan isn't that good and Burns is only ok (would be **~ but got sent off)? Any hints?

For anyone that takes the time to look and respond, I thank you sincerely.

Couple questions/thoughts

Your team does look very strong for div 5.

What are you training? (general?)

You need to improve your midfielders stamina. Burns and Comer will be very good with excellent stamina. Your team form is so good right now that one week of stamina training wouldn't hurt much. Burns also should be played offensively.

What are you training? If it's not Keepers, I say sell Mcnabb and get someone around the age of 19-22. Use the extra money to buy a trainee. Unless you are training Keepers...?

I will agree with what has already been said- if your not training keepers then selling McNabb and picking up someone similar but a little older would be a pretty good deal....Also- as mentioned before a week of stamina wouldn't hurt at all.

Hell, I'm going to come out and say it- you want a dominant Div V team, you need one more middie. Tho, maybe, it's just that Burns doesn't have enough stamina. Also, Bryan isn't even $20K- go find a pass def/inad wing wingback who will get you 2.5 stars for under $30K. Other than that, you're in pretty good shape, but in a tough series.

(Like everyone else) What do your trainees look like and what position are you training?

I train keepers, at least until Mcnabb goes up to excellent. Backup keeper is a midlevel passable, so he should bump to solid about the time Mcnabb goes up, at least I hope so.

Would it be worth the week lost training keeper to stick the week of stamina in?

McNabb is close to excellent.

What type of NSI do you put up?

I'm surprised Burns is only putting up 2 stars. He looks like a guy that should be putting up 2 1/2 at least to me.

You could definitely replace Bryan cheap and get someone in there that would give you either 2 1/2 or 3 stars.

That looks like a pretty solid team to me. I'd replace Bryan and then save up to try to bring in an impact midfielder.

Of course, you've been playing longer than me so take my suggestions with a grain of salt. :D

I'd say it'd be worth the week off keeper training. A couple of stamina boosts and you could have 3 ***+ middies (Burns, Comer, Hinton). With that midfield and any kind of decent team spirit, I bet you pull a high solid, possibly excellent midfield, and you should dominate the hell out of your series.

Last week I had 62 NSI but it could have been higher cuz Burns was sent off with 2 yellow, so midfield had only 4 players at the end.

That's nuts that you have that good of a team already after only 11 weeks. Hell, I haven't...nevermind, suffice it to say, you're a much more fortunate manager than I.

Yeah, I didn't have a 62 NSI until after about 20-22 weeks.

How on EARTH did you get such an AWESOME team to start with? I'm so jealous!! And for that matter, a little tired. Such is life... :p

I didn't have an awesome team to start with. How I did it:

1)I got Mcnabb, the keeper with a youth pull 2 weeks ago.

2)found out early on that an inadequate keeper in passable form with over $150K in value would POP with one week of training. I bought at least one, sometimes two, a week most weeks for $20-$35k per keeper. Play them each in one game a week. Train them for the week- they pop to passable. Sell them for a HUGE (for new team) profit.

I sometimes made $200+k on a $50k investment in one week. Of course, one sold for only $63k, and several took more than one listing, but still, GOOD money for little time/effort.

3)a stupid idiot made a mistake and typed in $330k when they meant $33k. They were rude, so I kept the cash. (I contacted a GM at the time and he cleared the deal. There was a thread about the whole thing a while ago).

4)I read all the threads in this FOFC section, thereby keeping me from making all the stupid noob mistakes lots of players make (well, not all, but almost).

5)I was in DVI, so won lots of games (and my series), thereby getting more supporters and so on than a new team in DV.

6)lots of luck...always a great kicker to 1-5 above.

That is how I got good. Plus, I am smart, anyway, so I don't do stupid stuff in general.
