Hi, I just bought an excellent defender for $363K. The thing is, that he is only 21. This was pure luck, as hettrick servers went down for a while just after I put a bid (and apparently, the deadline passed at that time...). Market price seems to be a tad higher (around $500K).

The guy is a pure central defender.

Asko Laukkunen (8200031)
21 years, weak form, healthy
A nasty fellow who is balanced and righteous.
Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities.

Assessed value: 73 000 Euro

Stamina: passable Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: wretched
Winger: poor Defending: excellent
Scoring: poor Set Pieces: wretched

FYI, I train playmaking and don't intend to change to defending

EDIT : a similar guy just sold for $575K in Sverige...

I look at it like this... you got a deal. Use him and when you are done with him, sell him.

Fix form and then resell

Depends on how much better he is than your normal defender. From what I remember of your team, they are very good and probably this guy isn't an impact player on your team. You could probably get by with selling him and using the profit elsewhere.

Bee : all my defenders are only passable... But put up regulary 2.5 stars. Asko is excellent => 2 level highr and best perf is 3.5. 3 is standard for him.

Anyways, I have listed him at $650K, if someone bites. He'll still play Saturday in my League game though. If not, I am still happy with him.

I would think that if you were bidding on an excellent defender, you were looking for one. You ended up getting a steal and now you can play him for 4 or 5 seasons and still sell him for a profit.

I agree completely with this line of thought. If you were shopping for an excellent defender and ended up putting a bid for an excellent defender, it's probably because he would help your team. Even though you might not train him, his performance should only get better every time he gets more experienced.

Your defenders look a lot like my defenders, all passables (except one solid for me) with a 2.5 stars standard and sometimes 3 stars. This player is an amazing upgrade to your defensive line.

If you sell him for 650k, you get some more money to go shop for another one at about 400k. Not badd too...

Definitely keep him. He's too old to train, and even though you'd make a profit, this guy is a difference maker.

He is on the market for $650K, but even in France, I assume that the people that can spend $650K are already wise hattrick owners.

I'll update this at bidding deadline.

Thanks for your inputs guys !

He didn't sell. But I didn't advertise either. He put up a miserable 2 stars. Less than my inad defensive winger. My defensive ratings went up but I play the last game at 4-5-1 instead of 3-5-2 (and managed to draw 0-0 despite a 15 NSI points deficit !). We will see next saturday !
