He has no friendly this week. Sad, but good thing he didn't get U-20 coach.
I was wondering the same thing.

I think Havok said he had been playing some star wars game. The guy has to have his addictions in order.

thats one of the last things he posted. Something about Star Wars Galaxies. Kinda sad really, his dynasty got me into hattrick.
I hope he comes back soon.

What I don't understand is it takes 10 minutes a week if you just want to kind of play hattrick. Everyone has time for that, and I think he posts at works, so unless he quit his job or is on vacation, what is going on?

Well, it does take a bit of time to update a dynasty- that's an hour or so a couple of times a week. Not a ton of time if you have it, but if not then it's another matter. Still, I'm guessing he's just caught up in a game. I'll email him and see what's up.

9/1/2003 at 00:33 He's still logging in to HT, so must still be interested. Like sterlingice said, caught up in another game.

What I meant was it takes 10 minutes to do a YP, set lineups and find a friendly. A dynasty takes longer obviously, although, that is only if it involves hattrick. ;)

Star Wars Galaxies is very addicting... more addicting than Evercrack!
I just suck at dynasties.

Hopefully an FOFCer will join IV.10 next year as it is probable that we are going to lose our other team in here. (goldurnears)
I certainly hope we don't lose DK, but I'll probably run into him at Great Lakes and set him straight. :)
I enjoyed my dynasty, though it lacked the in depth nature SI and DK put into theirs. I am hoping to set up shop again once I get home :).

Yeah, unfortunately depth is the reason I've been a week behind the entire season. Tomorrow is a designated hattrick dynasty night since I don't have class Friday but I won't be getting back until late tomorrow so who knows

I'll see if I can't get good ole DK on the phone. It is very unlike him to miss scheduling a friendly. I'll let him know that the FOFC contingent misses him and his cherished dynasty
Then again, maybe this is a strategy thing. If he was training stamina this week, he wouldn't need to schedule a friendly . . .

Just talked to DK. He is alive and well, but sends his apologies to his avid dynasty followers. He did not say when he would be back to it, or if he would be back to it. He just said that Star Wars Galaxies has commandiered all of his interest and most of his free time as of late, at the expense of Hattrick.

I'm glad to hear that he's doing well, but he'll be facing a stern rebuke if/when he returns to us. A stern rebuke.

I would like to begin by apologizing to those who have enjoyed my dynasty report. I know that some of you went through the same issue with me when I abandoned by KU TCY dynasty, and were hoping that the same thing would not happen again. That, apparently, is not the case, at least for the time being.
Raven Hawk is right, that Star Wars Galaxies has become a very strong addiction for me as of late. Normally I am leery of massive online games (having been bitten in the ass on a couple of different occasions in the past), but I was finally convinced to give SWG a try, and I have fallen in love with it. Star Wars has been a fascination of mine since a very early age. One of my first conscious memories is sitting in the theater, 4 years old (yes, I'm old, I know) and watching Darth Vader jedi-choke one of the generals on the first Death Star. Reminiscing aside, SWG seems to be the perfect online game for me, a natural fit. At least, that's how it seems now.
But SWG is not the only reason that I have abandoned my dynasty report, and I did not mention this to Raven Hawk on the phone earlier today. Up until recently, my job has been one that has afforded me the opportunity to read this board, write my dynasty report (which takes more effort and time than most might expect), and the like. That is no longer the case. Many more restraints now exist upon my time, and will continue to do so for the forseeable future. Were this not the case, I am sure I would still be running the dynasty report. I can't very well play SWG while on the clock, now can I?
And as long as I am speaking frankly here, I would like to mention that a couple of the comments I have seen here sadden me. GoldenEagle's in particular:
When DK stopped his dynasty I lost all inspiration for mine
I'm not upset with anyone, but I am saddened by this sort of thing. Saddened to see good material from others end or stop, simply because my priorities have been placed elsewhere. I am sure it was not GoldenEagle's intention, but this sort of thing makes me feel responsible somehow, and that doesn't seem right. If you enjoy writing a dynasty report, if you enjoy telling a story, then by all means tell it. Don't let the flighty attentions of another poster (namely me) or anything else stand in your way. Do what you enjoy. Again, no offense is intended to GE or anyone else here. I just needed to get that off my chest.
I did break down a few weeks back, and tried to do some catching up on the dynasty report (the last couple of posts that I added to the dynasty). To be honest, they felt more like work, and less like fun. That was when I knew that I was done with the dynasty, at least for a while. I should have stated something to that effect on the dynasty report, but I didn't, and for that I apologize.
As far as not scheduling a friendly this past weekend, that was my own damn fault. I have been paying precious little attention to Hattrick lately, obviously, because writing the dynasty report is what really made the game enjoyable for me. Now that the dynasty report has come to an end, for the time being at least, I am debating whether or not to keep the Screamin' Seamen going. We shall see.
OK, I'm done. (puts on kevlar vest). rebuke to your hearts' content.
The Afoci

DK: Why am I over $200,000 in debt?
FN: I bought you a new keeper.
DK: Is he any good?
FN: He's "passable."
DK: Why was he so expensive?!? Have I been away that long? Has the keeper market gong crazy?
FN: No, he was my youth pull last Saturday...

Ackkkkk!!! DK, HFP, and Ardent are why I started playing.
The Ruskies would not exist without them. I got my wife addicted also, so the North Dakota Flying Buffalo FC wouldn't exist without them also.
With 2 of them gone, Ardent you'd better not be going anywhere.
DK and I played the most boring match in the history of hattrick, at least we'll always have that.

No rebuke from me - I was just kidding in my earlier post, DK. We all need to get joy wherever we can, and if the dynasty/Hattrick wasn't providing it anymore then it was time for you to move on. Enjoy Star Wars, and when time allows check in on us. Hopefully we'll do you proud.

Well, this just sucks :(
I know almost as much about DK's divison as i do my own. The first divison i check (after mine of course) after every sunday's games is DK's. I read every hattrick dynasty religiously, but DK's is my favorite. Hell, i even 'tryed' to model my dynasty after DK's.
This is a sad day indeed, HFP and now DK.... whats this world coming to.

I'm with Fonzie on this. DK, you need to enjoy what you are doing. I enjoyed many of your posts about Hattrick. They are thoughful and though provoking sometimes. I enjoyed your dynasty in my Hattrick beginnings, although I gotta say I'm not a big dynasty reader anymore.
I understand what you mean about it becoming more a work than simple fun. I tried updating a dynasty of my own and gave up after about two weeks when I realized that writing a dynasty wasn't why I wanted to play that game. If writing your dynasty was what made the game enjoyable to yuo and you don't have fun in writing the dynasty, then maybe you're better to move on. I'd be very sad to lose your HT mind forever in our forum here, but take care of yourself first...
And please, oh please, if you ever become a dad, please don't leave your kid in the car while you're playing one of those addictive online games, okay...
Take care DK, we'll take you back in here anyday you wann come back...

Eh . . . I enjoyed your dynasty a lot. But even if you don't have time to update your dynasty anymore, I still enjoy seeing your posts here. So, whatever . . . if you're still playing Hattrick, it's still great to see you posting here. Dynasty or not.
PS - Have fun with SWG. :D
Comon DK, look at what you have accomplished in HT. You have more support than ANY team in the USA. ANY team. You were nearly the U-20 coach for crying out loud!

DK, in no way did I mean that you were directly responsible for the ending of my Hattrick dynasty. Several things factored into it, including going back to school, my new project, etc. But it was discouraging not getting to see the Screamins' latest youth pull. Your dynasty motivated me as I am sure it did many on this board.
Anyways good luck. If you do decide not to continue the Seamen, send me the password and I will keep the legend alive. Do not worry, I will not tell any GMs :D

SWG? Say it isn't so DK!
I know the bug of MMORPGs... Having played EQ from Beta until about six months ago, 3 active accounts, every expansion and god knows how many characters.
Anyways, best of luck in your new addiction. I will ask this.. If the urge strikes you, maybe start a little dynasty/adventure journal for SWG? I can honestly say I have no fear of ever getting sucked back into MMORPGS, and I do enjoy reading of the adventures of others in the games and have enjoyed your writing style in all your other dynasties.

Bug is a good way to describe it. I got sucked into Asheron's Call and then Anarchy Online for about two years in a row. Good bye to physical fitness, sleep, social life, etc..
Wow, it certainly took some time to get through all the new posts here.
DK, I think you can tell that we'll miss you if you go. I'll miss your input and advice greatly if you do. The HT community here at FOF would not exist if not for your dynasty.
I know I say that about a lot of us, but really, it's true. If not for Illinifan999 and the first dynasty, then your and mine wouldn't have came about.
Not that mine was much to write home about, but yours had a great amount of depth that people just, well, clung to. You really got a heck of a whole lot of people into HT the way none of us (HFP, Illini, Raven Hawk, myself or any others) could have.
My hope is that you'll continue on. But I'll understand if you don't.
I hope we'll still be on for some gaming when I get up there. Just do me one favor: Don't let me play this SWG or whatever you're all over now. :)
I hope you didn't get HFP on this game. :)
As for the rest of you: I never thought I'd say this, or have to, but I'm a "Rock". :) I'm sticking around for as long as I can. I really enjoy this community of ours. I'm not going anywhere. I'll play HT until they shut the servers down.
And so will Jerome Bettis. :) I'll play him until he retires. :)
ps
Best of luck, DK.

Amen to that. I really enjoyed all of DK's posts and would miss his insight especially on defenders, but if the dude wants to do something else of his life, he's got all the rights in the world... I'm playing this game because I love it, even though I will sincerely put way less effort in it over the Fall season (because of obcious infatuation with a professional football league, as in tackle footbal :) ), but I'll keep myself entertained with the very little effort it takes to enjoy it...
