waste of salary. clown's are popular with solid leadership. pseudo clowns are either popular with passable leadership or sympathetic with solid leadership.

depending on what your current team leader is, he could still be worthy of keeping around. If you highest leadership guy is a passable and you suspect a nasty one of draining your team spirit, keeping this guy around may be a nice remedy. I say that because that was my problem last season. I had two or three passable leadership guys, and I suspected that the nast one was the highest passable of the three since I wasn't able to sustain a very high TS for long, until I bought a pleasant guy with solid leadership...

Pleasant is the neutral rating. So he won't help or hurt your TS unless you have an anti-clown like Frog said.
I wish they'd change pleasant to something that describes a neutral feeling more. Like "Lukewarm."

A popular guy who is calm and honest.
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities. How about this fellow? Only worth $3,000 18yrs old.

Weak is two steps below even passable...he wouldn't dent your TS.

Yes. For him to have any effect, he has to have the highest leadership on the team. If the high leadership guy has nasty tendencies then he will drag your TS down but if he's popular, he will help it out.

To add to what SI is saying, you could have 25 popular guys with weak leadership, it would do you no good if you had even only one nasty fellow with inadequate or higher leadership. It's the guy with the highest leadership on the team that is the leader...

Thanks for the info... I don't know if he's worth anything for sale, so I think I'll keep him around to fill out my b-squad...

Couldn't a popular guy give a slight temporary boost to your TS when he comes on board? Just like a nasty guy knocks it down a bit. *Thinks about buying 10 1k popular guys before every match*

Hm... I'm not sure if that works. Then again, when you fire those 10, would it go back down? That's a fiendlishly evil plot- I like it. Anyone have some facts either way on this idea?

Easy way to find out is do a poll asking if anyone EVER got a TS bump when they hired somebody. Odds are if it were even slightly possible somebody here would have gotten one by now.

I agree that it seems unlikely that the HT guys would overlook allowing something like that to happen, but if people can have negative impacts then there should be the flip side of positive theoretically.
Since I'm cheap I always seem to end up buying the nasty-pleasant guys since they come a little lower in price so I have no idea. Hopefully one of the veterans can answer this question.
