Where is the show? If I don't get it soon, I am going to look for a refund.... I know there were things that made you happy this weekend... :)

Week 4

In no order of importance, lets get things rolling with...

Tennessee and Pittsburgh - The only thing in this game that interested me was Hines Ward since he is on my fantasy team. Does anybody really care abuot these teams other than TroyF and he unnatural love for Air McNair?

Viking and 49ers - What a joy this game was. There is nothing like watching the 49ers get humiliated on National television. And on top of that we get to see TO got off on the coaching staff. It is armageddon in San Fran, I we have a front row seat. Good times my friends, good times!

Jaguars and Texans - Capers has a big set of balls! You have to love the 4th down play call. Houston is not going to be competative for a playoff spot this year so why not go for the win when you have the chance. Great call, great play and good for them. I did not get to see much of Leftwich, but it seemed like he might be able to do a fine job down there. Growing pains though.

Eagles and Bills - McNabb is back from the dead, sort of. They are not the same team as last year. Their defense is not as good, and their offense is still a one man show. I hate the Eagles, but cannot complain if Donny has a good game.

Cardinal and Rams - On one hand I hate the Rams, on the other hand, this win cemented Bulder as the starter and reduced Warner to the bench, hopefully for good. No more stock boy to NFL MVP bull crap, and no more useless shots of his husband in the stands. Bye bye fluke-boy!

Bengals and Browns - I was waiting for the Bengals to show me how they were going to lose this one. Even with 10 seconds left I thought they would blow it. I don't hate either team, so whatever on this one.

Patroits and Redskins - Tom Brady is a less hyped Kurt Warner. He sucks.

Chiefs and Ravens - Could Lewis shut his fucking mouth up for just one week now? My Superbowl pick is still undefeated! Go Chief, go Vermeil!

Chargers and Raiders - When will California just sink into the ocean so we don't have to watch these games anymore? Gannon is on my fantasy bench, and I want him to suck.

Cowboys and Jets - One team had to lose, which is great. Too bad one team had to win. I was rooting for a tie. NEWSFLASH: PARCELLS IS STILL A HOMO. And what in the fuck is up with a gatorade bath 3 games into the season. Assholes.

Falcons and Panthers - I am a huge John Fox fan and I am very happy with what he is doing in Carolina. I am also a huge Vick hater, and an very happy to see him, miserable, and on the bench, while his team is digging themselves into a hole even the next coming of Jesus Christ himself (read: Mike Vick) won't be able to dig them out of. :)

Broncos and Lions - Yawn

Colts and Saints - I love the Colts. Harrison is one of my favorite players in the NFL. I really like Manning as a QB, despite the crap he has taken in the past. they guy is still pretty young and I hope last night was his coming out party. My boy Dwight 'The Fright' Freeney scored a touchdown as well. I call these guys Midwest-Syracuse. :) My other pick for the Superbowl is now the Colts.

Recap:

Chiefs and Colts in the Superbowl.
Giants being off and me havnig a massive hangover limited my attention span yesterday.
49ers were humiliated.
Warner is on the bench, for good.

Bonus Monday Night Football prediction:

This might be the worst MNF game of the year. I might not even watch more than the first quarter. Does anybody outside of Green Bay even care about this game. I am pretty sure Chicago does not. :) Seriously, is there a more boring team to watch than the Bears this year? Even getting to see Urlacher does not help the entertainment factor with the Bears.

Packers 24-10

Well I, for one, will be interested to see whether Kordell just tears up, or full-out sobs, when he is pulled in the 3rd quarter.

Remember those discussions we had way back when about whether Warner was HoF-worthy after his first two seasons? Seems like an eternity has passed. He's a nice guy and I've got nothing bad to say about him, but he will be interesting to watch. If he is let go and ends up elsewhere, will he regain SOME of his form, or is he completely shot? Honestly, has there ever been someone in ANY sport who has shot so quickly to the top and fallen so fast as Warner? We're not talking about a great season, and then injuries, etc., ruined a guy. We're talking about re-writing record books and a Super Bowl win, another amazing year, and then falling off of a cliff. It doesn't appear you can call it injuries at this point. It's like he was 95% confidence, and now that he has none, he's no longer an NFL-caliber player.

I'll admit, KYsyrup, that it is an interesting and unique case. My best guess would say he could be come the second coming of Vinny Testaverde, for whatever that might be worth. (See: NY Jets)

Ksyrup
09-29-2003, 01:12 PM
Maybe, but the guy is nearly as old as Mark Brunell, who is considered washed up. At least Vinny had those few early years, then he made his "comeback." I'm just wondering whether Warner missed out on that chance, and has already lived through what would have been his "second wind" had he been in the league since age 22. Maybe he's a Chris Weinke with NFL talent.

As far as Warner is concerned, I would like to challenge anyone in this forum over the age of 30 to stand around and let NFL defensive lineman/linebackers/secondary tackle you for a few hours a week.

All I have to do is play "airplane" with my daughter for an hour and I know I'll be walking around like a cripple for a few days. There are very few humans on earth who can take punishment like that (at that age) and not be turned into a vegetable. Wouldn't be suprised to see Warner IN a bowl of Chunky Soup soon.

I don't think Canton has a shot against the Dayton Triangles.

OK, revised prediction. The Chiefs and Colts meet in the AFC Championship game.

I still have no NFC favorite. :)

Wow, I might get fired from the Show for that goof up. :D

I have been harping on McNair for a long time on this board. It doesnt matter what he does year in and year out, he is still considered an average QB. That is just a travesty to me. If I am starting a franchise tomorrow, Steve McNair is my quarterback. He makes everyone around him better.

You're missing out on a guy that is quietly putting together a stellar career.

Somehow, I've missed this show for the first few weeks. I really don't know why I haven't tuned into it sooner. Now, I'm glad I did even with the shameful mistake of a superbowl prediction ;) Thanks for a good laugh.

OK, back to a bit of seriousness.

I am sticking with Chiefs and Colts in the AFC Championship. I was all over the Chiefs in the Superbowl but the Colts showed me something. I will nail down my Superbowl pick within 2 more games. I think that is still early enough in the season not to totally jump on a bandwagon.

The NFC is a different animal. Is there one team that really stands out (besides the Chiefs ;) )? Tampa Bay are the champs, I cannot dismiss them. Panthers playing real well, but it may be a year too early for them. Redskins? Giants? Dallas? Seattle?Packers (cannot completely discount Favre)? Minnesota?

I would say the early favorites are Tampa, Carolina and Minnesota. I might need 2 or 3 more games before I take a firm stand, but that is where I am leaning. Of course, I am refraining from picking my beloved Giants.....something about jinxing them.

The colts showed you something? The saints had 5 starting defensive players out.. I really do think any competant qb/rb could have picked apart the Saints last night.

I'm really shocked that Dungy didn't get in the way of the blowout and start running the ball after he was up 14 heh..

Everyone has significant injuries on defense at one time or another. Not every team puts up 50+ points on them. Come on.

Marmel
09-29-2003, 04:02 PM
I have always felt the Colts had a great offense. Manning is a world class QB (IMO), Harrison is the best WR in the NFL and besides Edge, they have a loaded backfield. Their defense has always sucked.

But did you see that defense get after it last night? Wow! Look what Dungy did for the defense in Tampa Bay. Combine that wth an offense that he would have trouble messing up and I like what I see. *shrug*

HFP,

McNair doesn't throw for 300+ yards a game so people simply don't understand just how good he is. I've been saying he's the best QB in the league for a couple of years now. Nobody has convinced me there is a better one.

It wasn't the Colt's offense that was impressive Sunday night. Not sure if you watched or not, but a lot of those points were the direct result of the defense. I think they ended up created four turnovers (two ints and two fumble recoveries). One was returned for a touchdown and at least two of the others were deep in Saint's territory and led to scores.

In fact, outside of the garbage TD's they gave NO after this one was decided and the garbage TD they gave leftwich last weekend, this defense has only surrendered one TD so far this season in games still up for grabs.

Given that the national media basically ignores the Colts (you can hardly get them to talk about Harrison and he's easily the best WR over the last several years - let alone the rest of the team), I imagine the Colt's showed a lot of people something unexpected Sunday night.

DOLA, I'm firmly on the McNair bandwagon.... he should have won the MVP last season.
