Judging Criteria:
Entries should focus on one natural location (park, mountain, forest, river, lake, swamp, etc.) in the target state, and include a brief explanation why this is a Natural Wonder. Man-made places, historic sites, etc., are NOT eligible.

Rules:
1. There are 10 categories (positive: The Amazing Thing, The Natural Wonder, The Historic Event, The Hall of Fame, & The Extraordinary Element, and negative: The Pathetic Point, The Repulsive Place, The Notorious Incident, The Hall of Shame, & The Tossed Barb) and each will be posted as a separate thread. There will be overlap in terms of deadlines. Each category will have an entry deadline of exactly 48 hours from when the thread is posted. Any entry or edit to an entry that is submitted more than 47 hours, 59 minutes later is invalid. No exceptions!
2. Each state (Canada is considered a state for the purposes of the State Olympics) may submit three entries per category, but they must be posted by different people.
3. Each FOFC member is limited to one entry per category, regardless of state.
4. Entries in the “positive” categories (for gold/silver/bronze medals) must be positive (that is, you cannot post a crappy entry just to block a state’s participation). The same applies to the negatives (for turd/scab/fungus medals), in reverse.
5. IMPORTANT: Entries must be designated with the word ENTRY and name the target state, positive or negative. Failure to do so will result in an invalid entry. No exceptions.
6. Generic entries (that is, things that can apply to any state rather than just the specific target) are allowed but will not score as well. Repetition will be severely penalized by the judges.
7. Consider these State Olympics to be a PG-13 event in terms of vulgar entries.
8. The State Olympics are intended purely as an entertaining contest and should be taken as such. Be prepared for your state to take some hits, but don’t take anything personally. Let’s keep it light.
9. There are three judges: TroyF (CO), mckerney (MN), and Franklinnoble (CA). After the deadline for each category, the judges will score each entry on a scale of 0.0 (awful) to 5.0 (perfect), based on the posted criteria, and then PM his scores to WSUCougar. A judge will not score an entry which targets his own state; WSUCougar will replace him as well as break any ties. The entries with the highest three combined point totals will earn medals for their target states.
10. Medals will be awarded for each category, positive (gold/silver/bronze) and negative (turd/scab/fungus). You do not want your state to get a negative medal! Total medals (with relative values of 3-2-1) at the end of the State Olympics will determine the overall best and worst states.
