Ok folks,

Since this is my first time hosting IWS, please be gentle. :) I hope none of these questions have been asked before.

PS- Can anyone clue me in on the scoring used? I've noticed a lot of other numbers, plus a percentage in the results.

The Rules

These are essentially the pasted rules from the very first FOFC “I’m With Stupid” Contest.

The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted below, and to provide the most common answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for the contest will be the product of your individual question scores. Highest score wins.

There aren’t many rules or clarifications necessary, but here are those I can think of:

No collaborating in any way. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by email or in any other way with other potential contestants.

All determinations of “matches” and anything else requiring judgment fall to that of the sole administrator of this puzzle, cartman. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, and that sort of thing.

Any references that are unclear to you, due to language or geography, should be understood to be authored from the perspective of an English-speaking American. However...

Your answers do not necessarily have to be correct in order to score points. If I ask “name a color of the rainbow,” and you and four other people responded “black” - you get five points, period, even if it is not technically a correct answer to the question.

Submit your answers by Private Message to cartman before Friday 10/10/03, 11:59pm Pacific.

Thanks QS,

I figured that much out :)

I was just wondering about the formulas that were used to come up with the percentages and big ole numbers I've seen.

Am I the only one holding off on entering because I don't understand question #3?

I entered, but didn't understand it either.

I don't think it would be appropriate for any follow-up clarifications... bit that one had me thinking as well.

Google-whacking should give more than enough clues for #3, much like the Powerpuff Girls question in a previous contest.

I think VPI's post is a little leading..... :)

We'll see, #3 confused me as well, though we'll now see what a good I'm With Stupid anwser would be to that...
At least my chances to my first victory have risen, knowing former winners have trouble with the question.

Bump +

We need to find the one excel spreadsheet that somebody created that would convert text into points. So not only does it do the multplication for you, but it also keeps track of how many entries for each word and compiles it all. (Basically it does everything except type the words in) I remember from way back when (IWS #3) how much easier it would have made running the thing. I think it took me like 2 hours to compile the list.

my excel sheet worked pretty well for me...

Still, there will always have to be some sort of conversion by the host for every column of entries to make sure "George Bush", "George Bush jr.", "George W. Bush", "George W. Bush jr." and "Dubya" are the same entries, or if the gamemaster wants to exclude (for example) the first and last option.

final bump from me. I'll tally the results once I wake up, and we'll see tomorrow who is IWS #49.
