View Full Version : Another short UN rant

In my perception, the UN had quite some time ago, lost all credibility with their lack of stand against terrorism, neutrality on human rights abuses and the appalling lack of condemnation against the many slaves held in bondage in Africa. Even though I support the US getting out of Iraq, I will not support a greater role of the UN for their lack of judgement. A case in point with the Israeli/Syria resolution. How can they (UN council) even consider drafting anything that does not strongly condemn the suicide attacks? I perceive that they have never taken a strong stand against such attacks and that is the problem. Even Russia seems to agree

Russia appeared to give some support to the U.S. position on Monday, saying the proposed U.N. resolution condemning Israel should be reworked.

"We believe it would benefit from a more balanced form," Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Fedotov was quoted as saying by the Interfax news agency. "In particular, we think it should include a clause on the need to stop terrorist attacks in the region."

sounds rather common sense to me... which of course means the UN won't pass anything of the sort.
