View Full Version : OT - MNF incredible finish

By a fluke of luck, I happened to catch the end of the MNF game last night. I tried to get to bed early, and listen to the baseball game on the radio. At about midnight, my painkillers were wearing off, and I was having trouble getting to sleep. (I've had a very rough few days, separate story) So, I wandered out of bed, got something to eat, and plopped in front of the TV. Bucs are up 35-14 with about 4 minutes to play. ABC is running credits for who provided the aerial coverage, that sort of thing.

I tuned in at just the right time. Shortly thereafter, the ABC staff is scrambling to find some kind of historic superlative for what has never been done before... no team has ever lost a game where they led by 21 or moe points within 4 minutes of the end of regulation. Of course, it happened last night - the Colts suddenly came live, and amidst a flurry of weird and disconcerting plays (and a rule that I certainly didn't know existed) they managed to score three TDs to tie, and another FG in overtime to win it. Unbelievable.

I've had good fortunre this year - I have stayed up late twice for MNF (which I rarely do any more) and saw the NYG-DAL finish along with the game last night. Two remarkable finishes...and by pure luck, I haven't had to put up with all the ugly games surrounding them.

Sorry, I missed that there was a 3-page thread with an unusual title that eventually became a thread about the weird finish. (It did seem a little weird to me that nobody was talking about the MNF game)

Not exactly. (Maybe it would be better to delete this thread before this gets out of hand)

Now where's the fun in that? :)

Alas, I missed the fun part. I was devoting most of my attention to the baseball game (which was great), and turning to the MNF game on commercial breaks.

After the excitement of the Red Sox win, I headed off to bed with the Bucs up 28-7, I think.

When I checked the internet this morning, I saw Peyton Manning's "aww shucks" Vol mug all over the place, and caught the news. Wow, what a wild one!

I can;t believe how much the Tampa defense seemed to have been going through the motions in that 4th quarterr. That play they hilighted Rice and he was just basically standing in front of the offensive lineman and not even trying to rush the quarterback kind of reminded me of Randy Moss on a running play.

He is 6'4 and 200 lbs. The man couldn't block if he wanted to. Plus, if he sprained his ankle/wrist/finger trying to block someone I would snap. As long as the guy runs his route, continues to play with back spasms and the flu and dominate, I will be happy. For as much as everyone bitches about him, I want one person to tell me they wouldn't want him on their team if he was available.

I better put the rifle down now.
