View Full Version : Another MOTS question...

Here's the situation...

The first place team in my Division V series will get autopromoted (and then demoted next season when he gets killed in series IV). I'm currently in second place with a 2 point lead over the 3rd place team. We're evenly matched and playing at his place. My last match is against a new team that should be an easy win. My team spirit is POE. I was thinking of "saving" my team spirit so I had an outside chance of winning my promotion match, but now I'm thinking I should MOTS and get the 2nd place finish money and try for autopromotion next season. What do you guys think?

What promotion match is this that you speak of? I thought you said that the 1st place team (not you, presumably), is on his way to autopromoting?

I didn't explain that very well. I "had" been saving my team spirit for a promotion game in hopes that the team in first would lose a match late or get a couple ties. I have scored more goals, but he's 4 points ahead of me so at this point it's unlikely I can catch him. That's why I am thinking of changing my strategy and using the MOTS now. The only real negatives I see would be the small chance I'd be taking in my last match against the new team (I think I normally would have a 20 point NSI advantage over them), and then the very slim chance the #1 team stumbles (or throws the games to avoid promotion) and I'm left facing a promotion game with poor team spirit. I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking any other considerations.

It couldn't hurt to message him and ask what his plans are (maybe he is going to throw it). If that's the case then you could save the MOTS. As it is, I'd just play Normal for each of your last two matches, or maybe PIC the last one. A PIC at POE or Delirious is better than a Normal at Composed. I don't see any reason for you to MOTS.
