Ok, I've got about 200k in the bank, and I was thinking of revamping my training program before next season starts. When I started to build my training program, I didn't realize how all-important 17 yos were...I bought 19 and 20 year olds. Now my three 'starters' are all either 20 or 21 and mid to high Solids. I think one of them will pop within the next two weeks, and the other two are probably only a few weeks into the next season away. I figure I'll sell them right after they pop, when they're worth the most.

But what do I do now? I've been watching the transfer market, hoping to get cheap 17 yo solids with decent secondaries. But 17 yo solids with no secondaries are still going for 150k+ (I lucked out and got one for 102,000 a few days ago, and was pleasantly surprised), and Passables with good secondaries are just as expensive. I'm hoping to get second in my series, but probably will get third. Combine that with the supporters' yearly fees (about 1100 supporters) and one more home game, I've got about another 200,000 coming my way. Right now, my starting IMs are all high solids, and my backups are mid to high Passables (all 17 yo, though). So if I sell my current starters, I'll have three mediocre 18yo middies for next season. What would you do?

This makes me wonder about something- with all the people looking for U20 players next year and willing to pay a premium price in even godforsaken 3rd world hattrick deserts, you may be able to get 17yo passables in large countries for cheaper early next season. This is just idle speculation, of course. But, what that will give you is a chance to bump those trainees you have now and get some good talent for next year.

More idle speculation. I would think that getting 17yos with good secondaries will be easier now, rather than next year. Some people will be trying to snatch those up for U20. Not only that, but few trainers are looking at 17yo's now, opting to wait until the new season. So you might be able to snag a decent bargain if you can be content with a guy who will be a year older (ie trading a year of playmaking since he'll be 18 for passable passing/wing ability)

my thoughts exactly...

i figure it will cost a fortune to buy a 17yo solid keeper early next season due to the U20. I'm hoping 17yo passables will go at a much more reasonable rate
