View Full Version : offseason training

just curious on what everyone is planning on training in the offseason.
i am generally a defensive trainer. i will hopefully get to play a qualifier (otherwise i get auto demoted). so if i play the qualifier, i will have to drop training % to 50 or so to raise TS back up for the game since i will mots my last game. so i dont want to train defense because it will throw off my calculations to know when my trainees pop.
obviously most people choose stanima, set pieces, or shooting since they do not require players to play to recieve training. stanima would probably help me the most since my 2 starting wingers and 1 inner mid have below excellent stanima.
anyone else do anything different or creative? i considered training passing and playing 2-5-3 or shooting, just with the hopes that someone might be high passing, scoring or set pieces.
I have been weighing the possibilities of doing such a thing. By that, I mean, running a 253 and training passing, but I may just do that next season.
My set pieces across the board on my team is horrid. Even "Hulsey" has better players at set pieces than I do, and he just got his team yesterday!
I have 2 or 3 players with inad SP. I need to get some of these guys in better shape for plays like this for D3 and really, overall.
However, I'll probably get smoked in D3 no matter how I roll the dice. I've considered playing the starters in the USA Open Cup matches, playing backups in the league matches and run a 253 for the league match as well, with the goal being to train passing while I stay in the Cup. Once my Cup runneth over, I will go back to the conventional formations and train scoring.
Of course, all of this is relative. I will change my mind a hundred times before it's over, but it is what I've been thinking I'll do over the past day or so. :)

Never heard of that one before. Or actually I've heard of it, but was under the impression it was a urban legend of sort. You sure it works? If you drop your training % very low, it will raise you team spirit?? I'm skeptical about it...
For me, I have clinched a qualifier to stay in IV.18, so I'll keep going my regular playmaking training, then my one week without a league match, I'll do stamina to help my trainee get up to par with my starters...

yes it works, but not very well. i havent verified it, but read in a few other threads in various places that dropping your training intensity to 50% raises your TS temporarily 3 levels.
however there is a huge drawback in that that second you raise your training intensity to 100% you loose any levels of TS you gained immediately.
i plan on dropping intensity to 50% before my qualifier to raise TS. then immediately after my qualifier raise it back to 100% and let my TS go to crap. however the following week TS gets reset, so it doesnt even matter. i will play crappy in my offseason friendlies, but like i care. i dont even consider the outcome of friendlies, they are purely training for me.

It doesn't work... in fact your form will drop... a lot.

there are multiple threads in the hattrick forums on this. they all say it works. have you tried it lytic.
since i have to mots my last game to try and make a qualifier, my TS will be furious. however it should be up to low irritated by the qualifier game. should i keep the intensity at 100% and play irrated since probably the best midfield i am going to see is wretched from a div vi team playing a qualifier? i pic'd last week at irriated and still got a poor midfield. if i mots, i would imagine it would be weak/inad.
whats your advice?

i don't know about ddropping the intesity... i've read about it in the past but never considered trying it. I think your best bet would be to MOTS me and then MOTS your qualifier and hope for the best. This was the great part about the old coaching system. Just fire your coach and wham back to a decent TS
As to offseason training. I'm probably going to go with stamina since i will not have a qualifier this year. A couple of my guys could use it
It doesn't actually raise 3 levels either from what I've heard. Just 1-2.

I remember HT-Bjorn once said... "No it doesn't work like that at all, I don't understand how this misinformation keeps going around." Since he said something like that, I never tried it.
My advice would be to HTmail him yourself (HT-Bjorn or Bjornholmer) or mailto:
[email protected] or
[email protected] or ask just ask -apoc-.
One fact I know for sure is, the less the training %, the less form increases you will see. You will see less injuries, but form will also fall. I think that is even in the rules... As for what you should do, I can't log into HT at work, but 2 MOTS in a row will kill you. Anyway you can Norm then MOTS? Maybe work against the other teams weakness? Like if they have a strong attack, but weak defense, use an defensive forward or vice versa with an offensive defender.

he's playing my team, and everyone knows my team knows no weakness!! :D

i cant afford to normal. if i loose, there will be nothing to mots as i will auto demote. and he does have a weakness since 4-5 of his players are suspended or injured. but his team is still better than mine. i think i am going to not worry about changing my intensity and if i do get a qualifier, just mots it with irritated TS.
so, back to the original topic, what is everyone training in the offseason?

MOTS both matches, and hope you get a weak team for your qualifier. Since you will be facing a div 6 team, that shouldn't be too unlikely.

Just do a double MOTS, I agree with Masked. Almost every DVI team you would play would be an easy bot team. And your TS resets after the relegation game anyway, so no ill effects for next season.

or go buy someone to assist... I was in 7th place this season with a lot of bad luck. I sold my best defender (trainee) and bought myself a striker. He's only temporary, but my backup defender gave me enough coverage to make up for that loss (oustanding defender compared to a excellent defender with passable winger). However, I bought a formidable striker with solid passing. 4-4.5*s... I haven't lost since I bought him. I will probably sell him at the end of the season... who knows.
As for my offseason: Preston Davis is a USA U20 hopeful, so I'll be training defending.

my best trainee is a 17 year old solid defender from Hellas, but i think i am better off holding onto him. i have a 20 year old passable defender that is my back up. but i was planning on waiting till his next pop in a few weeks to get out of debt. i dont think the money i would get out of either one of them would let me make any significant upgrades.

bummer... trainees come and trainees go... but I'll always have that Supernatural keeper I'm buying in the offseason!

or at least until the keeper turns 28 and begins to degrade :)
on second thought, im going to test the market with my 17 year old solid defender. cant hurt since i just bought they guy 2 weeks ago and he popped for me already.

I'll keep him until he's 40 at least. Keepers downgrade the slowest, you usually don't see it until 32-33.

You should buy Pacheco. He's a bargain at $4.6M now. Weak experience, excellent form. He'll put up 6* for you any day of the weak. Perhaps even pull 6.5* with his experience bump.
Plus, he's Magnificent!

Supernatural sounds nicer... and he's a former youth pull :p

shooting needs to play... middies and forwards get the training.

according to hattrick 2.1 files
Shooting for scoring skill trains all outfielders that actually played that week
Shooting for set-pieces skill trains all players
so the scoring skill can only be trained with shooting if they played, but set pieces can be trained regardless of if they play.

yeah, all outfielders (not keeper). I was thinking of passing.
