I just can't believe that football team.
One week after man-handling the defending champions and finally looking as if they could put a streak together, they lose 13-16 to the Cardinals.
Even if that wasn't for "Poor-chman" we didn't deserve to win.
Playing against one of the worst teams in the league, we lose again.
After a home defeat to the Browns (great job), after a 1pt loss to the Seahawks (thank you Poor-chman), now a loss to the Cardinals.
you gotta be kidding.
For the 3rd time in 5 years, we won't make the Playoffs. This is all but certain now. very, very disapointing.
(a little thought to Bragg who attended the game yesterday...the return trip wasn't a happy one i'm sure..)

Well, I didn't get to watch much of the game, except the part where we got screwed out of the Owens TD catch ('Pushed out of bounds, but the ruling on the field was different...no TD.').
That being said, I don't know what to make of this team...I don't know what to make of a lot of teams this season. The Bucs? The Bills? The Saints? The Cowboys?
From what I've seen of the 49ers, I really like the defensive aggressiveness they have shown in rushing the pass. Julian Peterson is amazing, and Rumph is even showing some signs of maturity. Offensively, I don't know. Garcia seems ridiculously inconsistent, making an amazing throw one play, then making an equally bad throw the next. Owens will make some clutch catches, but then drop passes that J.J. Stokes might have caught. Then there's the special teams...I don't even want to go there.
I'd give a prediction of the way the team is going to play from here on out, but I literally have no idea what team will show up the rest of the way.

Are YOU GUYS cursed?????? Come on man.
Try being a Lions fan sometime. We've had 1 playoff victory in almost 50 years.
I saw your title and just about vomited. Sorry, but you have no idea what cursed really is.

I understand and agree with your guys' points, but didn't you guys even beat the Cardinals?

This was my reaction as well. 1 play-off win in 50 years. Losers of 20 straight on the road. A team that has actually regressed after, what, a 3-13/4-12 season. I will have no pity for the 49ers.

I think Cardinal fans (like me) and Bengals fans also roll their eyes at the dreaded 49ers "curse". They may not be playing like the 49ers of old right now, but cursed? Please. Come back and whine when your team is really pathetic like the Cards, Bengals, (dare I say they may be improving) and Lions. You've only begun to feel the frustration of supporting a losing team, we've had plenty of practice already. :)

Improving hell, they're a good football team and this week they are going to show the 9'ers how to beat the Cardinals.

Well, not bashing you guys here, but in 49erland: not making the Playoffs 3 times in a 5 year span is quite the story.
Something unheard of in 30+ years.
so yes, there is something wrong right now..for us.

Cursed? The 49ers? What an idiotic statement. Cursed because they wont win 10 games this season maybe.I guess 49er fans whine as much as 49er players. If they are cursed, then good. I would like to see them dwell in the celler for the next 20 years, give you guys a reason to cry.

It's pretty simple, really. Dennis Erickson. That hire left a lot of people outside of SF scratching their heads.

Well, i think the "curse" thing is taking it to far...way too far. But i DO understand the 49er fan's unhappiness/worries......my Packers lost in AZ too, and unless something good starts happening against the Vikes next week the Pack will fall to 3-5 and most likely also miss the playoffs.......this is pretty rough after such high expectations before the season, and still not really knowing why this team has gotten worse since last year instead of improved.....so welcome to the party 49er fans...jump in with us Packer fans, Falcon fans, Charger fans, Raider fans, Saints fans, and whoever else i've forgotten that is down this year after expecting to be up....

There are many degrees of curses...I'd say San Francisco's is on par with Cindy Crawford's curse of a having a mole above her lip.

As a 49er fan, I'll just say that there is no curse. Just a bunch of players playing below their talent level, and a coach that seems unable to motivate them to improve.

let's not get too big a head now, you had a strong to dominant team from 1981 through 1999, thats FAR from 30+ years.
try not to forget that in the 70's the niners were the doormats of the NFL before the bucs came along.
that being said, being a bengal Fan since 1980 and suffering two very unpleasent super bowls to the niners, I hope you learn what losing really means. then perhaps niner fans will truly appreciate what you had.

It sucked watching that game...the 49ers are definitely one of this year's bad luck teams.
That being said, it makes it much easier to accept yesterday's loss knowing that my least favorite poster of all time was there to see it happen.

The 40Whiners, cursed? Ha, funny. How many years did you guys go to the playoffs in the 80's, 90's and even the last few years? How many Superbowls did you win? Give me a break.
Quit your whining.

I'll call it the curse of the Mooch!
But honestly NO, they just suck!

The 49ers problem isnt a curse, its just what clintl said: a bunch of underachievers that feel that they will win just because they are the "mighty" 49ers. Add a jerk like T.O. to the mix and you have your "curse".

I'm not ready to label them underachievers, other than Owens, who needs to stop dropping passes and mouthing off, and the kickers. I think much of their offensive problems stem from the injuries to the OL and Garcia, and they just haven't been able to put it together. Most of the games they lost, they should have won, so they're not that far away from being where they were last year. They're still a young team with a fast defense that is going to improve.

You want cursed? Try being a Rutgers fan. Perhaps it's the "winning the first ever college football game curse."

How many winning seasons has Rutgers had over the past 30 years?
Oh, cthomer, have you heard of a kid named Alex Galindo who plays high school ball there in Jersey? He's a top 100 prospect whose top two choices for college ball were UTEP and Rutgers. He decided to sign with the Miners. Smart kid... :D

Serves 'em right for ditching Mooch!
As a Hoosier fan, I also get to complain about curses. The Curse of Bill Mallory. Ever since he left, we have been doomed. At least in his era, we would have winning seasons and make it to minor bowls... :(

Its Dennis Erickson. He sucks. He ruined the Seahawks and now Holmgren finally has them turned around (not counting the loss to Bengals yesterday). Erickson is a good college coach but will fail every time in the NFL.

The curse of Steve Spurrier. He said once he made it as head coach he would curse the team that didn't start him.
That and they traded Buffalo for OJ Simpson.
Retroactive curse!

Doesn't this by definition imply that you're NOT cursed? I mean, if your expectations are high, that's GOOD, right? Every team has to do worse than they usually do sometimes. Otherwise, they would ALWAYS do as well as they usually do, and where's the fun in that?
