That is classic, especially after the last one became so much work at the end.
I just am not that evil. I wish I were that evil however, it would feel pretty damn good!

Grind her nose in it. She will see both of her "castoffs" (no offense C-Town) getting hot and heavy with new loves. She will ponder her faults, and maybe change for the better. Then again, maybe not but at least you are helping her in a sick, twisted sort of way. And tell her to stop calling you, as it could wreck your new relationship. They hate that!
Exercise your right to spite!

A nugget just for you: My college room mate had this line he would pull out whenever an ex would argue with him in public. He would say "How can you argue with me when my [Male Member] has been in your mouth."
The shock from that would always cause the ex to turn beet-red just before she slunk off.

dola.
Asa favor to one of your friends you should tell her "this is hard, but at least your are not sleeping with [friend]. I don't know if I could take that." See how long it takes for [friend] toget a hookup.
Now if [friend] has herpes it gets even better...

I know exactly what you mean. My ex and I still talk more than I wish we did, but I recently told her I was dating again too. Pissed her off something horrible and she was very concerned that we might have slept together...and that was that. I was like, "geez, I am not a priest." and "even if I do sleep with her, I am not going to tell you."
I don't think it is spiteful...more of like closure.

I agree with some of the above.
My ex and I didn't speak to one another for two months. Not because she didn't call, but because I didn't return calls, and had no interest in speaking to her.
I've been perfectly nice to her but she continues to call about once a week. My mom actually had a good insight into it.
1) Realizes she was wrong (highly unlikely)
OR
2) Has a new boyfriend and wants to keep me on the line figuring she can reel me in if it doesn't work out.
Either way, I'm sick of girl games, have no interest in it. I know I'm repeating myself but the three months we've been broken up have been tons better than the two years we were together.
That's really sad now that I read that. Oh well.

Is Ellethree a man?
You have called always refered to Ellethree as a her. Is she a he/her? A she-male? A 1/2 Tranny?
This provides an odd new twist.

Since you asked.........
Ok, so I got there a few minutes early, she asked me to wait while she finished getting ready. Then she said the words that will make you all quite jealous.
[dramatic pause]
"Do you want to go play softball for an hour" Evidently she was on her dorm team and they asked her to play. So for the first hour of the date I played IM softball for a dorm team at Case. It was most excellent, except for the ball, which was oversized and was actually soft. It was really different from the medium pitch serious UMaine softball.
Anyway, after the game we went to a local bar and watched the second half of the basketball game while drinking Guinness (to answer ohmslaw's question). So there http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~fof/ubb/tongue.gif
Anyhow, I had an amazing time. I won't bore you all with the details of the rest of the date, other than to say it was wonderful. I really like this woman.

Simple. We left the bar at about 11:45 (15 minutes)
Drove back to her place (5 minutes)
Chatted in the car, making plans for this weekend and stuff (20 minutes) http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~fof/ubb/smile.gif
I left, made a wrong turn ended up by the Jake (15 minutes)
Completed the drive home (40 minutes)
There you go. Fritz, after watching her play softball, I can gaurentee she is a she. CTM, I don't know about the powdered donughts...sorry, maybe I'll ask her this weekend.
Hope that satisfies your curiosity......

I guess C-Town is a love-making machine. 1.5 hours?? Holy macarel.
OR...
The game ends at approximately 11:30 EST, but C-Town decides to hang around for another Guinness. Why? Because he wants to show his sensitive side by watching "One Shining Moment" and getting teary-eyed.
[Dr. Seuss moment]11:50 EST - C-Town and ThreeElle leave the bar and head for the car. It wasn't too far...Look!!...a shooting star![/Dr. Seuss Moment]
12:00 EST - They've been on the road for 10 minutes now and C-Town is thinking about how perfect the night has been. They saw a shooting star for crying out loud!! It has been completely perfect.
12:10 EST - Minutes before arriving at 3-L's dorm, she asks C-Town if he will want to come in. He accepts. [C-town's thoughts] Haha...screw Wilzone and the rest of those idiots. 100-1 odds my ass. 3-L is getting a good time tonight. Oh yeah!!! [/C-town's thoughts]
12:12 EST - Suddenly a cop car pulls C-Town over. He gets a breathalyzer, registers a BAC of .2 and is immediately arrested.
12:48 EST - 3-L is forced to gather all of her money and gets C-Town out of jail. She tells him that she knows some good lawyers that will help him if he would like.
12:55 EST - They catch a cab to her dorm. C-town asks: "Am I still allowed to come in?" 3-L replies: "Uh, I think I'll pass...it's been a long night. Goodbye."
1:00 EST - C-town gets home and is left to blame the Guinness for his horrible night.
1:15 EST - He logs onto the computer to pretend as though everything was perfect.
Better luck next time C-town.

The game ends at approximately 11:30 EST, but C-Town decides to hang around for another Guinness and a shot of Jaeger. Why? Because he wants to show his sensitive side by watching "One Shining Moment" and getting teary-eyed, not to mention Sh*t-Faced.
11:50 EST - C-Town goes to take a piss for the 15th time this evening. ThreeElle's thinking "what a dork, he even missed the white kid from Duke making all those buckets." While "tucking in" Ctown zips the frank and one bean. Now he knows why his mom made him have a velcro fly on his parchute pants.
12:00 EST - Ctown comes out of the can dripping with sweat. ThreeElle has been talking with a burn victim with a serious speech impediment in the corner and has hardly missed Ctown. Ctown says "grab yer stuff sweet cheeks, its time to get you home.
12:10 EST - Minutes before arriving at 3-L's dorm, she asks C-Town if he will want to come in. He accepts. [C-town's thinks out loud] Haha...screw Wilzone and the rest of those idiots. 100-1 odds my ass. 3-L is getting a good a$$ pounding tonight. Oh yeah!!! [/C-town's thinks out loud]
12:11 EST - Ctown realizes he just said that out loud.
12:12 EST - ThreeElle sprays him with mace and runs into the dorm, hitting the campus police "panic button" as she runs.
12:29 EST - As ThreeElle watches from behind safety glass, the campus police run up on Ctown and beat him billy clubs.
12:45 EST - The campus police stop beating Ctown and vanish as quickly as they arrived.
12:50 EST - Ctown hobbles up to the dorm door, where ThreeElle is frozen in fright. Ctown says, "I had a great time tonight, do you want to get together this weekend? ThreeElle shrieks and runs upstairs.
1:05 EST - C-town gets home and is left to blame the Guinness for his horrible night. Looking down he notices the "bean" is still poking out.
1:15 EST - He logs onto the computer to pretend as though everything was perfect.
Better luck next time C-town.

At least I provided the "Mad Libs" foundation for your masterpiece. You just filled in the blanks with hilarious additions. I have to admit that the "pulled over by police" bit wasn't great...I think that that the "thinking out loud, being sprayed with mace and being beaten by campus police for 16 minutes" was much more exciting. It sounds like C-town had some bad luck.

OK, a couple of things and I will promise to stop bragging. We got onto the topic of British television. Turns out she is a hugh Benny Hill fan, and has the script to The Holy Grail, with all the edited stuff.
Her tennis shoes reek like they are actually used for sports based activities. Which while not pleasing to the nose, is good for the soul.
The only negative so far, she enjoys shopping for clothes.

Only two minor points about this. First, why the hell was Ctown smelling her shoes? Secondly, was she wearing them while he smelt them or was he just sneaking a whiff when she wasn't looking?
The only negative so far, she enjoys shopping for clothes.
I don't see this as a negative at all - you need some reassurances that she's normal. With so many cool habits (like the pointing and giggling and the Softball), you want to know for sure that there's dainty femininity in the mix. I mean, you need to know that she's not all action and might turn out to be some kind of dominatrix or something. That would be bad.
Wilzone (See Above) has the same angle as me on this one (I think).
Well, I guess no one is perfect.
Is it just me, or does this feel like when Egon Spengler "confessed" he got a 99 on an exam once in school but didn't tell his folks about it?

Morgado, I have yet to check to see if she likes the movie Spaceballs or Major League for that matter . . .
I didn't try to smell the shoes! She warned me before we drove over to the game, and yes they were rather stinky (I guess they are five years old).
I guess you are right. However, I am still a buy a book and sit on a bench in the mall kind of shopper.
Yes, I definatly think she is worth 295 posts. We will find out more this weekend as we have a pair of dates. Friday I am going to a "lawyer party" with her. And then on saturday she is meeting up with my laywer friends after we go to the Indians game, for a night in the Flats. Should be a fun weekend.

Nothing personal at all, Ctown. I'm just thinking that - at this point - we're trying to make a new standard in English measurement... you know, such as three standard miles equals one league... or like three score plus twenty grams equal one furlong...
How much is one Ctown worth?
That's what I want to know. Purely scientific, my friend! http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~fof/ubb/biggrin.gif So I ask you... is one Ctown worth 300 posts?!

C'mon, she plays softball, watches hoops, giggles at nudie pictures, drink Guiness, and loves the Simpsons. The only way she could be more Excalibur-like is if after their next date Ctown were to write something like this:
I go to pick her up, but when she opens the door, she is wearing nothing but a smile. In one hand she has a plate holding 2 fresh-baked, home-made calzones; in the other hand she is holding an advanced copy of TCY.

The good stuff happens around post 516, Wilzone.
The sappy stuff generally begins at 532 (and doesn't it always?).
Then, the near breakup and heartfelt Tom Hanksish-Meg Ryanish makeup happens between posts 634-648.
The overly presumptuous first marriage conversation flares it's ugly head around 689, unless the good natured do-you-want-kids question predates it by ten or twenty posts, in which case, hold off on the marriage conversation until 693.
Somewhere in the 800s Petrochile submits to the fact that this OT far surpasses his wildest OT dreams... that he is unworthy... and that the Lord has mocked him again.
The actual marriage invitations are sent between posts 1,289 to 1,301.
Wilzone, you take the calzone order for the wedding reception around the 1400s.
But then again,I really should stop here. Don't want to get too far ahead of myself...

You wrote that she is a law student. If that is the case, here is my timeframe for you to call her:
NEVER!!!!!!
As a lawyer who married (& divorced) a fellow law student, I can tell you that female lawyers are not ideal marriage material. For that matter, neither are male ones.
I know it's too early to be thinking about marriage, but you gotta consider the future. The divorce rate among lawyers is astronomical. I did my part to help.

Well, I just read the entire goldarn thread, and one thing is ab-so-lutely clear to me. Ctown is sandbagging by asking for help from you guys; he is actually a gold-plated gigolo with multiple merkins hanging from his rearview mirror. When you're single, kitchen utensils may be great fun, but after marriage they're just for cooking. [imagine a sad smiley here]

Here's the funny thing. They are an advertising company....they claim to have no connection to calzones. I think this calzone thing is catching on all over the place.
I even heard that Cinemax is coming out with a mafia drama to compete with the critically-acclaimed "Sopranos." "The Calzone Clan" will be premiering next month on Cinemax. Danny Devito stars as Franco Calzone while Roseanne gets the nod as his wife. Some other "large" celebrities are said to be on the cast as well. Entertainment Weekly says it is a "delicious new drama." The Washington Post says that it will "leave every viewer drooling over the Calzone family."

just a couple weeks ago C-town was at a loss over what to do with a gals #, and now he's dishing out advice to others.

Not to get off on a tangent, but someone has to get off on someting here.
I've narrowed down why Cute Girl in the Car might have been smiling at me. She probably saw the monstrous cow lick that's been in my hair for God knows how long. Or maybe she was laughing at my incredibly bony butt. Or maybe she found out my abnormal obsession with Charlotte Church... uh, I think I'm saying too much.
Enough of my mindless 5am ramblings.... Ctown, if you don't get laid for you, get laid for me.

I don't think this thread will ever die. It will become a perpetual thread. When people can't think of anything to say, they'll bring back up this thread, or maybe start talking about something random to bring it to the top, maybe CTown will alert us when he "plays army" with his gf, or perhaps when he breaks up with her, or maybe when he asks for her hand in marriage. The possibilities are endless. This thread will never die.

Upstate 21:69
"The Psalm of THE Post"
Lo, then morning came on March the 3rd, 2001 and the Lord spoketh to the world that there would be written a posting in the land of such perportions so as to give men pause and to maketh the girls weak in the knees. To ease the troubles of lost souls and hopeless libidos, from fingers of the prophet Ctown-Fan came a message to make men's minds wonder: "How Long To Call?".
From afar the responses came and went and filled the afore mentioned post with hope and joy, ever drawing more attention in the hope that through heavenly means the prophet Ctown would win the heart of a young lass and woo her to such an extent as to make the sheep as docile as lambs - and muster the shepherds not to thinketh any longer of nasty thoughts.
But the time extended futher and further and the post refused to die. Yea, longer than the patience of many of the FOF faithful. But Ctown did quell their anger with good thoughts, and he did give them fruitful updates on his noble quest, and he entertained the downtrodden with festive dances of joy - not unlike those of Sammy Davis Jr.
Soon miracles were reported by newcomers to the post: Broken bones healed themselves in the post's holy presence and impotant men were blessed with potency anew. Evil mens' minds were unbent. Water was made to be wine. The lame were pronounced hip and all your base did belongeth to us. And although they did not understand, the newcomers did readeth and smile with delight.
The joy continued until May of 2003, when the ten-thousandth poster did crash the system and the world erupted into flame. So sayeth the Lord.

you called at 8 & 9!!!
never, ever, ever call on the hour! It makes it look like you thought 'i'll call at 8' and called at like 8.01PM alerting her to the fact that the call was obviously planned. Even if you've plotted a call for days, with a huge flow chart instructing you on what to do for every possible turn the conversation might take, don't blow your cover by calling on the hour!!
Do suave, playing-it-cool, non-obsessive guys call on the hour? NO. They're spontaneous, they don't call at 8 and 9, they call at 7.42 and 8.16.
Beyond that point, i was really surprised at the turn this thread took, with C-town getting seemingly pissed off and completely unwilling to give us even a vague sense of how anything worked out. What seemes like the most straight-forward plot ended up being less coherent than a David Lynch directed film.
So, a year later....what's up with 3L?

04-29-2002, 07:51 AM
If i remember, the 8 and 9 was just an economy of typing--but I probably did call roughly an hour apart.
3L and I didn't work out, and I found out later it was a good thing. Months later, I was at an Indians game with a lawyer buddy of mine and we ran into some of her friends, all happened to be Case Grads. They knew her, and told some stories that I wasn't to impressed with--so I guess that is a good thing that it didn't work out....
Since then there was a Librarian (MLS from UT), the college senior (eat your hearts out), the random little (22) sister of a friend--that was awakward--and not much else.
My old strategy of of wearing down their defenses through repeated meetings doesn't work so well in the bar/pub scene, and I still don't have the hang of this whole calling thing. However, I am still plugging away. After having three long term relationships, and watching my friends in long termers, I have to wonder "why the hell should I go through this hassle?" Then I remember, it's all about the breasts.
Hopefully, that has brought the closure that Chris and some others have wanted . . .speaking of which, I'll need to get my mack on again this weekend

bump ... I posted a link to this for SunDancer (thanks Sachmo!), but I figured this would be a humorous bump for the rest of the newer members. I know I laughed my ass off when I first came across this classic.

The tricks your mind plays on you as you get older are amazing.
Take this thread, for example. I remember the thread being huge, almost unreadable, even. I remember it being this infinitely-headed hydra of a topic that dwarfed the fortitude of even the most devoted FOFCer to read. I remember having to write down thread page numbers on little scraps of paper to make sure I knew which page to pick up the discussion on.
::shrug:: Turns out the damned thing was only ten pages long.

Remember, SkyDog recently changed it to 50 posts per page now, so it used to be 20 pages long.

This thread had some great stuff.
C-Town, wherever you are, I'm sorry for mentioning this thread again. Well, I'm mostly sorry. I'm also laughing my butt off. Can't win 'em all, I guess.

Since my last girlfriend and I split (Jan 7 http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~fof/ubb/frown.gif ) this has been the longest dry spell, without "dating" someone, for me in eight years.
Tonight was a first for me, all my girlfriends have come from "academic" interactions (No actual dating, but spending a lot of time together before starting a relationship).
Anyhow, I got a phone number from this really cool 1L (1st year Law Student) from Case Western at a bar tonight (Damn, that took a lot of guts--or maybe it was the Gunniess http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~fof/ubb/smile.gif ). Luck of the 4th gen Irish I guess. But what would people suggest about how soon I should call? This is after all new territory for me.
My friends all suggested that I give her a call on monday--and this seems about right. Any suggestions?

Seeing as how CTown-Fan has graced us with his presence, I just have to bump this so that a new generation of FOFCers can learn about the greatness that is CTF and his girl troubles...
(Sorry, CTown, but you knew that it was going to have to happen once you showed up... :D)

Hmm... I'd never opened this thread before, but after reading a couple posts on this page I've come to the conclusion I made the right decision.
Oh, and how is this (or really any) thread better than our old threadkiller?
I miss it so much. :(
This is a very old thread and somehow I never saw it. Like mckerney though, I think that was for the best.

If you can't see the difference between this post (before it became silly) and the threadkill posts (which never served much of a purpose), you're either willfully ignoring the value behind it or are just irrevocably stupid. Your pick.

agreed. I'm angered that anyone would choose to compare this thread to the entirely mindless "threadkiller" thread. I feel dirty even mentioning the threadkiller thread.
This thread is the height of reality posting at FOFC. I would'nt hesitate to rank this as one of my all-time favorites threads.

So, which is it, the Bachelorette of FOFC, or the Paradise Hotel of FOFC?

phew... well that was a long read... was definately nice to get some closure at the end of it. For awhile there I was afraid I wouldn't find out what happened to 3L.
SkyDog, I think you should close this thread
