I made it!!!!!!
What a great surprise, i couldn't be online today for the promotion match but one hour after it finished i checked at hattrick and.....
VAL*SIL - Swamioms FC 1 - 7 i won it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 - 7 playing away vs a beter team than mine, my guys performed as never before (i set it to Match of the Season) so in my first season i have made it to Serie V in Spain when i took the team 5 weeks before the end of the league, winning all the oficial matches thx to the help and knowledge of this board ( i was a totally newbie to Hattrick, read about it here at this forum for first time).
Here is the match report, i have set my language from spanish to english so i can post for you my team and match info.
VAL*SIL - Swamioms FC 1 - 7
Date: 11/1/2003 at 14:00
MatchID: 9954959
Arena: CORRO
Crowd: 4160
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 4160 to CORRO. VAL*SIL tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Hernández - Maribona, Acevedo, Moura - Molero, Enguidanos, Díez, González, Gálvez - Piña, Andujar.
Swamioms had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Grimalda - Fernández, Osorio, Andrade - Esteban Lopez, Kremer, Alvarado, Cuquerella, Lama - Lopez Murphy, Hernández.
Joaquím Andujar has the wonderful ability to create chances out of thin air. In the20:th minute he drove a bicycle kick straight past the keeper, resulting in the 1 - 0 goal. 24 minutes into the game Swamioms´s Daniel Andrade found a gap in the home sides central defense scoring with a long shot, making it 1 - 1. Swamioms had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially in the 25:th minute when Marcos Lopez Murphy came up alone against Ramón Hernández who managed a block. Marcos Lopez Murphy was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was saved by the keeper. However, Swamioms´s Santiago Lama managed to get hold of the rebound and scored the 1-2 goal. After 34 minutes Sergio Esteban Lopez made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to Marcos Lopez Murphy who shuffled the ball past the keeper. The score was now 1 - 3. Some fine manouvering on the left lead to an 40:th minute Swamioms goal, making it 1 - 4. Ignacio Fernández was noted down as the scorer. By now Swamioms were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. Marcos Lopez Murphy came close to extending the visitors lead as he, completely unmarked in front of the goal, lifted a ball over Ramón Hernández, hitting the bar. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 4. Swamioms, bringing the final ball possession rate to 76 percent, dominated the battle.
The referee showed VAL*SILs Pedro Gálvez the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Swamioms´s Santiago Lama received a play slashing through the home side´s defense in the 58:th minute, chipping it past the keeper scoring 1 - 5. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. After 68 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Daniel Kremer who increased Swamioms´s lead to 1 - 6. VAL*SILs Pedro Enguidanos got himself booked after a foul. After 78 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Pedro Alvarado who increased Swamioms´s lead to 1 - 7. After 79 minutes Swamioms´s Daniel Andrade contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. Swamioms held the ball, with a clear 81 percent possession rate.
VAL*SIL´s best player was Joaquím Andujar. Juan González was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Swamioms player was without a doubt Marcos Lopez Murphy. Pedro Grimalda was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 7.

Congrats, best of luck in the new series.
My questions:
- Economy: I made a big mistake on first week, spent about 150.000€ looking for a new coach, also have done 2 stadium expansion, the last one still not finished. I have't buyed/sold any player. I'm expending 20k on my youg squad.
What should i do to recover my debt?
- Rooster: Well as i told before, i haven't sold/purchased any player, just pulled a young each week.
What should i do? which players to sold? i have thought on selling this ones as are old and won't increase a lot their skills:
Current bids for Swamioms FC

(0.0 Euro)
Ricardo Trincado Settier
Original club 11/4/2003 at 04:09 0.0 Euro

I have a doubt on my keeper Pedro Grimalda, he is performing very bad and he seems a bad influence for team chemistry. But in the other hand, i haven't a good replacement, the other one is worst. Mybe i should sell him and buy a new keeper, but i haven't the money now.
Should i sell some of my stars and rebuild? or keep them and try to rebuild throught my young pulls? my main problem is my debt now. About training, i want to train Playmaking for this season, but i'm not sur eif i have the right youngs as mostly of them are crap, my young squad is now starting to be better so the new pulls should be better than the current ones.

train stamina in the offseason, your guys need it especially midfielders.
thx guys for the answers, and Panther for the tip, yeah i just changed it to stamina and to 95% as i have 5 physios, had it at 96% before and one injuried per week so i have lowered it to see if i can get less injuries. Should i hire more physios and raise the %? my bigger problem is the economy right now.

just a quick look and I know Carreras and Manzano both need to be fired, you could probably fire more sadly. If the guys on the market now don't sell, don't relist them as they're not worth the 1k listing fee.
I'd sell Lama due to the multiple skills and passable scoring isn't needed as you have plenty of capable strikers.
I'd also consider selling Ricardo Hernández as you could easily get 100-150k for him with passable scoring/solid passing. Murphy and Lopez will be fine for now as your starting strikers.

I have 5 physios and %100. I don't experience too much injuries. I'd set it to %100 atleast for a couple weeks and see how you fare, if it turns sour, you can always cut it back.
%100 will also give you better overall form for your players. but since you're having injury troubles, keep it at %95 for now.
hell offseason training stamina you could set it to %90 to be safe.
go ahead and hire 2 more spokespersons as the extra $3,000 will pay for itself especially with increased sponsor money.
debt recovery is a slow process for us unlucky ones. just have patience and it'll come. offseason is hell on finances due to loss of competition matches.

You're right about Manzano and Carreras, both are really crap, my first pulls when my youth squad was so bad. I have fired both and also Enrique Barcelona for same reasons. I have just edited the above post with my current squad.
About Lama, i'm using him as offensive winger because his solid at winger and he is one of my best performers so i will keep him for now.
About Ricardo, you're right, his sale could be a good money injection but i'll try to keep him some weeks to see if my economy improves, he is a good player and i'm short of them :)
Thx a lot again for your tips Panther, i'm still a newbie and all your tips are welcome.

I only have 5 physios and I train at %100 without any serious injury problems. injuries are mostly random as to when and how many you get. training % is just a basis to roll the dice with.
I only got 1 that hurt all season, a trainee for +5. other than that a couple +1 and bruised but nothing serious.
I had worse luck with 10 physios so I dropped it to 5. I do however carry 5 docs due to injury paranoia lol

Expanding arena is nice, but you are putting yourself in major debt. I would worry about getting out of that hole.
Ricardo Trincado Settier, Ignacio Novar, Cristóbal Plaza, need to go. They are horrible.
Do you really need that many physios? Train a skill like playmaking for a season or two. Get a better coach when you can. Out with the old, in with the young, but keep your good older players a while longer. You could also gut the roster to about 15 or 16 young players if you wanted to. Play smart, but safe, save your money. Don't be tempted by the transfer market, it sucks you in, and won't let you out :D
My young squad is pasable right now, investing 20k per week.
What kind of player should i pull next week? i think a keeper as i only have one and i can use a young replacement.
Also another newbie question, i have been looking for it but can't find the right answer. What is the effect of each personality ratting on the team spirit and perfomance?
I think i underestand agression, the more agressive, the more chances to get a yellow card. But what about agreeability and honestity? i'm confussed about that two.

You have better odds at pulling keeper, only one skill to worry about. Hope to get lucky for at least a passable.

Agreeability: Affects team sprit

Thx again, so umm my keeper Pedro Grimalda, apart of being a crap keeper is being a problem for my team spirit, he is solid as leader and he is controversial, so he is getting down my team spirit right? so i must look at agreeability and also at Leadership to know who is the guy who affects more my team spirit, right?

the only player that affects TS is the player with the highest leadership. there's no way to know who's highest if multiple with same leadership ie: 2 solid leaders. only way to know is see how you TS goes. it's best to only have 1 player with the highest leadership.
Coaches are not considered when calculating higher leadership as Coaches are already the most important factor in TS management.
Agreeability
Popular is the best for TS
Sympathetic is good
Pleasant is neutral (more bad than good though I'd say)
Controversial is bad
Nasty is the worst
the ideal player for TS (known as a clown) is popular with solid leadership.
however, the effects are minimal and they don't actually increase or decrease your TS, only the speed at which they move.
yes your keeper is a negative impact to your TS if he's indeed your team leader.

Your team sprit is also down because you MOTS. Yes, he is only part of the problem.

I agree with Panther, set your training to 100%. I've had it at 100% with 5 physios the entire season and haven't experienced much more than your average bumps and bruises. The benefits to training outweigh the potential risk. At worst you have to hire 5 temporary doctors to get your player back fast.
Edit: I'd also add a second goalie trainer.
Ok, will set my traning at 100% to try it, also i have some more questions:
What is the best way to get friendlies? when worths to travel outside my country? i know it costs me 6k so i suposse i need to go for something that can bring more than that.
what is the use of becoming supporter of any other team? i can't find that on the rules.

The best way to get friendlies is to challenge people :) I play almost all of my friendlys vs teams i support or that are supporting me. But other people always play International friendly's for the extra experiance. Almost every week someone in FOFC makes a friendly's thread. If you don't see one make it your self.
Theres no real "use" for supporting another team really. Just support teams/people you like. You'll be notified when they login and when they release press announcements.
Supporting The Maniacal Misfitz is always fun to!!

I think you need about 2400 fans to show up to break even. You can check previous friendlies that team has hosted and see what they are drawing. International friendlies tend to draw better than national ones though.
Edit: I usually don't even look at teams with less than 30K seat stadiums just to make a quick analysis.

For friendlies I look at the team history and see how long the person has been in the game. If it's more than 6 months or so, you'll almost definitely break even as long as it doesn't rain and possibly make a small profit if their supporters are happy. The longer they've been in the game, the better since that means more supporters.
Edit: I also look at their series position. If they're in first, you can count on much better turnout than if they're in last.
Thx for the tips, i think i preffer to host it myself, also after the promotion to V both my sponsors and supporters are high on life so i suposse the ppl will come to my stadium. I hope to start ok the first match, my arena will be expanded to 20k in 3 days when the construction ends.
BTW more questions :)
I used MOTS at the last promotion match so my TS is furious, how many time will it take to be good again? will it affect a lot my first leage match?
How many weeks should i train Stamina before the league? this will be the first one. During the season i will train PM.
Thx again for all your tips, i'm becoming more and more addicted to this game. Being a CM series fan since the first version, i found hattrick so simple at first, but i must admit that the promotion victory and FOFC turned my mind about it :)

TS will reset next week to composed for every team, no need to worry about that ;)
do both weeks of stamina and get your middies into shape. the form hit will recover, but the second half drop in possession due to low stamina for you middies will hurt you all season.
Thx Panther, i have another doubt about my next formation.
where to use my top star?
Sergio Cuquerella
250 000 Euro, 23 years, solid form
Has wretched experience and poor leadership abilities
Stamina: solid Keeper: wretched
Playmaking: passable Passing: inadequate
Winger: weak Defending: passable
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: solid
He is my best player on defense, but also my best on the midfield. I'm not sure where should i put him, in the past session i used him both at the midfield and defense, had 3 stars at both positions. If i put him as inner midfiel i will need to put Abel Osorio who only is inadecuate at defense. If i put him as defense, Abel will take the 3rd midfield position and he is not as good as Sergio (week). What to do?
Btw, is mybestteam down since 3 days ago? i tried to go there without look. Is there any other tool like that online or offline? i'm using registered HAM that tells you what is the best postion of each player, but as i haven't really expecialiced players, there are tons of possible strategies.
Thx again for all your help, i'm thinking on writting an interactive dynasty report for this new season, where you all could help me and talk about the team (this thread is becoming something like that anyway).

Play him has a inner midfielder defensive.... midfield is more important then defense in Hattrick by far.

I thought on that but never tried that tactic, i use 3-5-2 with my two wingers set to offensive. What are are up/downs of setting one of the 3 inner midfield as defensive?
-Panther
11-04-2003, 12:31 PM
yea, play him as a defensive inner-midfielder.
an IM set to offensive/defensive doesn't lose any playmaking contribution. they only affect attack/defense.
you're IM when played defensive will give you a boost to your defense without hurting your midfield.
soooo, playing Cuquerella as a defensive IM will almost negate the loss of defense due to moving him fro D to IM.
playing him as a defender makes his playmaking worth nothing unless you play him as an offensive defender, but then you still lose some defense.
BishopMVP
11-04-2003, 02:43 PM
I agree with playing him at IM, but I'm not sure how. You may or may not want to play him defensive depending on your defensive/offensive ratings. His passing and defending are close to equal, and as long as the new tactics don't affect too much, offense is much more important than defense.
