So far they're playing tougher than I would have thought...

The match is in progress, 8 minutes of the first half have been played.
The 39480 spectators at Long Island Pride Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Island tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Yoder - Lowry, Dozier, Lozano - Jansen, Ledford, Engel, Bertram, King - Jaramillo, Paulson.

CSKA-LA had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Cockrell - Foorman, Page, Nichols - Hartmeier, Bastida, Centeio, Yngvesson, Løvenkrands - Anderlius, Nyfeler.

CSKA-LA had a good opportunity to score the lead goal but the home team goaltender Jason Yoder saved Hertzel Foorman´s shot headed for the top corner. Arlen Lozano seemed to be floating in the air at will as he elegantly headed in 1-0. The previous Island corner kick was executed by Everett Engel. A cross coming in from the right hand side left Anders Anderlius alone in front of the goal in the 5:th minute but his shot was too loose.

update 16 mins:

A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Island lead up with 2 - 0. Glen Jaramillo finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle

The Pride are on a roll...

update 19 mins:
In the 18:th minute Island put themselves up 3 - 0. The visitors defenders lost the ball to Glen Jaramillo coming up from the left, who proceeded to cooly round the goaltender and knock the ball home.

update 41 mins:
A questionable free kick call just outside of the home side´s penalty zone gave CSKA-LA a chance at reducing the score in the 33rd minute. At any rate, the ball went wide.

After 7 mins in the 2nd half nothing new.. i find it odd that they had 57% of the possession in the 1st half though...

Looks like my new acquisition stepped up.

after 21 mins:

CSKA-LA kept trying to force their way through on the right side. Jonathan Nyfeler got his chance in the 65:th minute, but the home sides left defence held his position and was able to stop the attack.

Lots of action in this one...

update 37 mins:
One of many good passes from Kim King at the wing was recieved and skillfully taken care of by Johnnie Paulson, scoring for Island to 4 - 0. The visitors replied in the games 81st minute, scoring the 4 - 1 goal, as Ludwig Hartmeier broke through from the left, easily lobbing the ball over the home teams keeper.

A sloppy finish, but a win is a win.

Grant Page made several blunders at the end of the game, causing a good deal of unrest in the defensive line. A well placed free kick by CSKA-LA´s Donnie Nichols reduced the lead to 4 - 2. Paul Løvenkrands of CSKA-LA received a yellow card in the 87:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. CSKA-LA, bringing the final ball possession rate to 58 percent, dominated the battle.

The most dominating Island player was without a doubt Arlen Lozano. Edwin Bertram was a disappointment, however. Most important CSKA-LA player was Donnie Nichols. Ludwig Hartmeier was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 2.
