View Full Version : So long Pittbulls... Time for a change...

First off, don't worry, I'm not going away from Hattrick. :) Now, read on...

The Pintendre Pittbulls won tonight, not much, a 6-0 drubbing of a poor bot team out of some division V league in Canada. But it was the team's last match as the Pittbulls...

Even though the Pintendre Pittbulls team name has served me well for over two seasons now, I never felt quite attached to that name. When i first signed up for Hattrick, after reading about it from many FOFC members, I was kind of caught off guard when they asked me for a team name right there on the form. I went for the alliterative form and the double P's of the Pintendre Pittbulls were born.

Pintendre is a very small town of about 5000 people and was recently annexed to a bigger city in the vicinity. While I've been living here for the last four and a half years, I wasn't raised here and don't really have any emotional ties to the town...

For these fairly simple reasons, I came to the decision that it was time to change my team name to something that means something to me, something I could care about and that I'd be proud of as my team tries to go higher in the Hattrick sphere...

The whole concept behind this new name came from my newfound passion for martial arts, Kenpo Karate in particular, which I've been practicing since last April, a mere two months after I had taken my first steps into the Hattrick world.

And off I went, gathering information about kenpo, its philosophy, where it comes from...

It is with great pride that I announce my new team name, effective right now...

I had fun doing the research that led to this name. "Cerio's" comes from the style of Kenpo Karate I practice, the Nick Cerio's Kenpo (http://www.nickcerioskenpo.com). "Dragons" comes from the omnipresence of dragons in pretty much everything that is martial arts, and also the fact that the dragon is one of the five animals on which kenpo is based upon. Specifically, from the dragon, we learn to use a challenging strategy of movements complimentary to your opponent's. Since I tend to scout my league opponents quite a lot I try to adapt my strengths to their weaknesses, I thought it fit my team, and me as a manager, perfectly.

With a new name comes a new logo, or in my case, more of a new artwork for the team. Here is what will grace the team's page from now on.

What do you think about it? Nice, huh? I like it, but I worked on it, so I may be biased... ;)

At the same time, since keeping the stadium name at "Pintendre Pittbulls Stadium" doesn't make sense anymore, I will be changing this too. What would be best fitting than "The Dojo" for the name of the stadium of a team named after a karate style, I ask you...

Also, the fan club will be renamed the "Black Belt Club" and every club supporting the Dragons, all 18 of them as I post this and every new one in the future, will be delivered a honorary black belt in the coming weeks.

The match kit colors, which had been grey shirt and socks with red shorts until now, will now be a striped black and red shirt with black shorts and socks.

The team will host its first match as the Dragons at The Dojo, recentely upgraded to seat 45021 fans, this coming Wednesday, as they will play host to the Jacksonville Kickers, managed by fellow FOFCer, tucker rocky.

I hope you enjoyed my little story and explanations. While some of you may feel I took this way too seriously, and my wife probably agrees with all of you :), I had fun doing this and isn't it the main goal when you play a game, to have fun?

As always, your comments are welcome.

Woot! Cool name and logo.

I just started martial arts myself (it certainly took me long enough). I'm enjoying it immensely. Who knows maybe the Gargoyles will get a name change . . . when I don't suck at it anymore. :)

I wish you the best of luck with your new name, stadium and fan club.

I just started learning Jun Fan Gung Fu, Kali, and Shoot/Submission Wrestling in the styles of Danny Inosanto/Bruce Lee.

It's a good way to shed a little weight, too. Although I've noticed the weight hasn't gone down so much, but I have gotten slimmer. :)

I like the name, and I really like the look of the logo. It really suits the nautre of the team name well.

Oh yeah, I was a 2nd degree brown belt in Shotokan - Do at one time.

I feel honored to be the first to play FM's "Dragons" at "The Dojo". My players will probably get caught up in the hoopla of this grand event. :)

Seems quite interesting, whole lot of styles in there :)

I'd agree with you, weight isn't necessarily going down, but the body is a little tighter and fitter :)

It should be noted that the room is only populated at US game time (and a little before and after) on Sundays and Wednesdays- not enough to talk about the rest of the week.

To add to what SI is saying, I'm usually in there on Sundays from 5 eastern, which is when the Canadian matches start so if you wanna talk during the Canadian matches, getting ready for your matches, I should be there...
