Trade AI on Computer trades

Anyone been keeping an eye on this? The past 2 seasons I've simmed I've seen Marvin Harrison get traded for a 5th round pick and Kevin Hardy for a 7th round pick while the draft was in progress.

The trades were most likely for cap reasons so that the teams could sign rookies, but it leads me to believe the computer will not ask for picks beyond the current year. Both teams should have gotten considerably more considering Harrison was the top rated receiver and Hardy was a top 10 linebacker.

Any thoughts on this?

I saw a peculiarity that I only caught because I was amazed at the amount of trading that was taking place during a pick at the draft. Cincy traded the No. 2 pick to Denver for a wide receiver, who then immediately traded the No. 2 pick back to Cincy for the same wide receiver. Thought that was pretty odd. I only caught that by looking at the transaction log.
