Problem With FOF Advancing To Playoffs

In year 2023 of my Saints career, I've developed a problem.

When I sim the regular season, everything works fine until the end of Week 17. Then the game then stops responding. I can move the cursor around the screen (in it's little hourglass icon), but it will never advance to the playoffs so I'm forced to CTRL+ALT+DEL out of the game.

Any guesses as to what might be causing this?

I think it just takes a very long time. I walk away from my computer to get a drink, take a leak, etc.. at the end of week 17. It takes about 2-3 minutes on my machine. It may even say "not responding" occasionally, but it always comes throgh.

BTW, that's how slow every week of FOF4 ran on my system - the major reason I never got into the game.

And no, I'm not running some old clunker of a system.

I agree with cthomer, it also takes a long time on my system at the end of week 17. I also just go and take a walk, get back a little later and it's done...

Cam, you should probably try and wait it out. Also pay attention to your hard drive light and if hear if it's working. IIRC, the HD is working when it looks like nothing is going on with the game...

yep, it was just running slow. Usually it takes about 45 seconds to a minute for it to process into the postseason. Now for some reason it's taking three, four, or even five... but at least it's working.

I've noticed the same on my computer, it always takes longer, usually 10-15 seconds, to process the end of the season after week 17.

If you look carefully, you'll notice that all of your single-season records are updated after the end of the regular season, rather than at the very end of the season. I'm fairly certain that piece of information is strongly related to the slow-down as we get deeper into a career.
