View Full Version : Tom Ridge and Illegal Aliens

This should make sabotai happy... because I can't believe the bullshit comment Tom Ridge made the other day in Miami.
"The bottom line is, as a country we have to come to grips with the presence of 8 to 12 million illegals, afford them some kind of legal status some way, but also as a country decide what our immigration policy is and then enforce it,"

Yeah, how about you enforce the laws already on the books.

The Democrats want to go easy on illegal aliens in an effort to get more minority voters. The Republicans want to go easy on illegal aliens because so many companies use illegals as cheap labor. What the hell happened to protecting our borders?

Jeez, I feel like Pat Buchanan, but Ridge's comments piss me off.

Yeah. I'm sick of people from Superior, WI coming over here. I should pretend that I'm so different over here in Minnesota and stand guard with a gun.

sometimes it's better to just say nothing at all than to try and maintain that 14 post a day average. :)

Your link done broke.

And I say we just give Southern California and Texas back to Mexico. We don't need them.

I don't really care about the illegal alien situation. 1) They do all the shit jobs that no american-born citizen wants to do, and they'll do it for 50 cents a day. Good for them. 2) I live in New Jersey, the only aliens I come in contact with are from Golditakia from the sector Bomni....but I've said too much already.

Oh, and Tom Ridge...aren't you the fucking head of the Department of Homeland Security? Isn't it your job to already know what the immigration policy is? Jackass.

Bush sure picks the winners, don't he?

Someone asked earlier this week what I thought of Ridge's remarks, my answer was simple -- I think Ridge may have lost his f'n mind.

I think Cam's right. How about we Native Americans shoot these freaking Englishmen instead of teaching them how to grow corn! Who's with me?!

Nah, it's too late for that. Let's keep those fucking Irish and Europeans away from our borders!

Ah, hell...foiled again. So, um...keep the brown guys out?

Or maybe realize borders are a way for the weak to feel better about themselves, instead of participating in the larger family of humanity.

Good for Ridge :). This may be the best statement I've heard on the immigration issue. We really don't have a good immigration policy. We have nothing in place to deal with illegal immigrants. Of course these people come over because they see a better way of life and they will do those jobs us 'Americans' won't. They should get some legal status.

Then again, I'm personally for open borders, so I think we could go further.

Feh. Ridge doesn't decide policy - he EXECUTES it. If no one is interested in enforcing the existing laws on the books, he needs clarification on exactly what our new policy is, so that he can get on with his job. That's what his quote was all about - a plea for direction. Ridge is no moron, but his bosses may be.

BTW, nice quote from the guy who thinks we "weak" folks should abandon our borders and just love, love, LOVE our way to a big happy family of humanity. Yeah, I believe we should just give away all our hard-won limited resources like the United States is just one big fucking happy pinata. Just smile and look the other way, the same way you do when your jobless uncle invites himself over to dinner and helps himself to most of the fridge. It's OK, it's all about PEACE and LOVE, LOVE and PEACE ... never about standing up for yourself. That would be weak ...

I think we're getting crowded enough, lets end immigration all together

this is a policy, he should enforce it. Im for his open mindedness. and this is the US so im glad he spoke his mind. unfortunately now he wont be eligible for any contracts to rebuild that immigration policy. Sorry Pentagon says, "speak out against us and you will lose mightiily." Aint free speech grand.

The policy we have is not enforced because it's not enforceable. I think Ridge is just acknowledging that it's a failure without actually using those specific words.

The fact is I would say well over 50 percent of the nation does not want immigration anymore. Even on this messageboard it seems pretty one sided towards that conclusion. I have no problem with legal immigration...but people who run across the border to get here upset me. Those people will most likely just bring the economy and the country down. They have no job experience, little education, rarely speak english, and when they get here they take jobs that some people say no American wants...that's just not true. In many places in Texas and Cali immigrants are hired for construction jobs because the owners are too cheap to hire people that are in Unions...these immigrants can make 10 bucks and hour while a union worker would make 20. I dont know about you but 10.00 an hour ain't bad at all...especially if you dont even have a ssn number. People that say we should just open up our border are ridiculous. Does they even remember september 11th? I'm pretty sure that most people hope that nothing like that ever happens again...so whats ther best way to prevent it??? Open borders? Fricking ridiculous.

No, it ain't bad at all. I make $10 an hour. Which brings up the question...why won't union workers just work for $10 an hour? Are the owners being cheap or are the unions being greedy (Or is it both)?

EDIT:

As for 9/11...weren't the terrorists here legally? So what does open borders have to do with that?

From what I recall, several of them entered the country legally, but were here illegally at the time of the event. That means they overstayed their visas.

Owners are trying to make as much as they can while paying out the least. Labor wants to make as much as they can of the money they are helping the owner make. Nothing wrong with that negoation, as long as both are honest. Ownership /management has a longer track record of trying to stiff their employees than employees actually trying to stiff their employer.

P.S. - Nice job attributing a fake quote to my name. I guess when you haven't got any sense you can always be a childish liar. That all you got?
