Both Coordinators have retired.
OG Jerry Ostwald leaves the team because of a lack of playing time.
Lots of players want more free time or lose relationships. I'll make some adjustments to time management.

All in all, the loss of both coordinators hurt. We'll try to get adequate replacements for both.

The Staff (Good Overall Rating: TCY Helper)

We have a new staff this year. All three members are replaced, and I am happy with all three. Only our home scout remains.

Rodney Crain, 46, Syndicate Coordinator (Good Rating:TCY Helper)

Andrew Patterson, 53, Offensive Coordinator (Pretty Good Rating: TCY Helper)
- We will run a Pro Formation offence again and has better ratings then the man he is replacing. His rehab rating is the only one I don't like.

Lester McGarity, 41, Defensive Coordinator (Good Rating: TCY Helper)
- Our defence last year struggled so hopefully a new coordinator can help that.

Kent Wilson, 71, Southwest (Home) Scout (Decent Rating: TCY Helper)

Academics: Good (44), 63rd in Nation.
Last year GPA: 3.31 (2nd)

We are very glad to see our academics go up and to have the 2nd GPA in the nation was great.

Home Games in ALL CAPS

An easier schedule then last year (no Nebraska or Arizona State) we have an extra conference game as well this season. Depending how our young defence plays, I say we could finish in the top half of the conference.

A tough game was expected and they trounced us. They ran for over 200 yards, and held us to negative rushing yards and only 118 passing. Grant is still perfect, with a 45 yarder and Payne, a true freshman starter, got his first collegiate interception.

Our non-conference schedule has its easiest game of the season this week, on the road against Wyoming. This game is by no means a gimme, especially the way we played on defence against Rutgers and California.

A big win for us as we win two straight against Wyoming. The freshman Payne got his first career touchdown and Grant, our redshirt-freshman kicker remains perfect on the season. Maloney had a great day, as did our run defence. Kirk also had a great day, with three sacks.

We couldn't get anything done offensively and they ran right by us. They scored early and often and we still have some work to do. A trip back to reality-- we aren't ready to compete yet.

A game that was closer then we would have liked, but a win is a win. We still have a realistic chance to win the conference, but that would involve beating North Texas and probably beating New Mexico State. Oh, we also really need a new punter next season.

A game that we just blew open. It was a 3-point game at the half, and we scored 24 points in the second half. Maloney had a great game, a school record 346 passing yards and 3 TD passes. Gambrell ran for over 100 yards again, as he's starting to get more and more playing time with Curran. We now stay at home to face Idaho alone in 2nd place in the conference.

Idaho (4-5, 4-2) at Utah State (5-4, 4-1) on TV5
Lifetime Series: Utah State 1-0-0
Last Meeting: 2003 (26-17 UTST)

A game that we must win to have any chance of winning the conference. A loss brings us back to the 2-loss pack of Mid-Tenn State, Idaho and New Mexico state while a win brings us to a one-game showdown with North Texas for the conference next week. We are favored by 10 points. We are without ILB Tom Richard who sprained his wrist and is out 7 weeks, which means his college career is most likely over.

A game that was much closer then the score makes it seem. Maloney had another great game, 200+ yards and 2 TDs. Curran had a solid performance as his college career is winding down. We have a nationally broadcast game next week (even beating out #1 Notre Dame against #29 Boston College), at North Texas and a win guarantees us a bowl bid, a loss gives us 2nd in the conference and wondering what could have been.

A tough game against a top-30 opponent. If we win, we make it to the New Orleans bowl. If we lose, North Texas goes and I see if I get any job offers. Maloney is the best rated passer in the conference going into this game so we'll see if North Texas could stop him. They are 8 point favorites, so we'll try and prove the oddsmakers wrong.

They limited Maloney to under 200 yards, and that shut down the offence. They ran for over 200 yards which sprung their offence to score all day long. All we could muster were 3 field goals, and that was it. We had a good run though, I must say. We still finished over .500 at 6-5 and that's encouraging for next year when we should have some talent stepping in-- if I don't get any other offers, of course.
