I'd still give pretty much anything to have him and Olberman doing SC instead of anyone they have now.

Dan and Keith were the best SC combination ever. I miss them.

I enjoy the Dan Patrick show on radio usually every day.. One of the radio shows that I try to listen to if I get time.

Dan looks like a dweeb but I love to listen to his radio show. Usually laugh out loud several times

Olbermann is worse than anyone.

A big reason people are disliking Patrick more is because people are disliking SportsCenter more. They have everybody standing, walikng around, doing the stupid gameshows and trivia stuff, bringing in outsider after outsider, and trying to out do each other with how witty and funny they are. Patrick has become just one of the regulars, fallling victim to the same things everyone else has.

BTW, what exactly does Kenny Mayne do now? Do you think he gets paid more now than he did when he was doing SportsCenters? He works like once a week, tops.

Edit: For Clarity

Dan Patrick is great, what the hell you talkin bout? That coke smokin Michael Irvin is the one that needs to be bitch slapped. He is horrible.

The first time I listened to Patrick's radio show, I was stunned at what an asshole the guy is. I enjoy him on sportscenter, but he comes off as a pompous ass on his radio show.

I loved when Patrick interviewed Keyshawn right after he was cut. DP wanted to kill him because Key wouldn't let him talk. That was the one time I saw him truly mad on the air. Great TV.

Great call there cuervo...

He was pretty weak with Joe Horn yesterday, really did not ask any hard questions and had my Horn bully him a bit.

BTW does Michael Irvin have the worse laugh of any person on TV?

I think you gotta put Dan Dickdorf in that category as well.

I rarely watch Sportscenter any more and certainly don't keep up with who works with who, but what IS the issue with Kenny Mayne? Did he get demoted? I saw a part of NFL Countdown for the first time this year and he had a segment on there that was like a bad Nick Bakay skit.

It's like he's turned into the Jeannie Moe of ESPN. You know, the chick on CNN who does nothing but 1 off-beat feature "news" article every week. Where do I sign up for THAT job?

I think the guy with the crew-cut and glasses is the best SportsCenter host.

As a gambler, I found the Nick Bakay segments to be pretty funny, at least until his wife became a permanent part of the act.

Tony Kornheiser has suggested it's time for her to take over "lead vocals" and make Nick the backing band.

I love Bakay's stuff in all forms (even as Salem, on Sabrina the teenage witch). He's one funny guy.

I'm sorry but some people may be offended by the word "putz" as it's definition according to dictionary.com is....

"putz ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pts)
n.
1. Slang. A fool; an idiot.
2. Vulgar Slang. A penis."

Therefore you are going to offend many people in the Matt Millen thread. This has been your daily PC bulletin.

Speaking of, what did happen to Sterling Sharpe. I loved him on NFL Countdown and was dissapointed he is not there this year.

Dan Patrick is great. I found out that I can get his radio show at work and I think the people that sit near me must think that I'm losing it with some of the many laugh out loud moments on the show.

I love his gas station encounter, yesterday I believe it was. I also liked the Michael Irvin appearance on the show the week following the LT bombshell of sending hookers to opponents hotel rooms.

Kornheiser gets on my nerves during the show before him though.

Not at all, she has that "it" factor.
It can't be explained or reasoned because just looking at her she isn't overtly hot, but there is something about her that makes me feel special everytime I see her.
I have the same feeling towards Suzy Kolber.

Dola,

Back on topic, I dig the radio show, I think Dan is fine, but Dibble really makes the show for me, one of the few on air "jocks" whom I enjoy.

Kornheiser I don't get at all, he seems to know nothing about sports which i find odd considering that he's a sports columnist and hosts a sports talk show.

I love PTI, but must admit I have never heard the Kornhieser show. He arrogance and domination word-wise of Wilbon are amusing for a 1/2 hour. (Especially how Wilbon is cool about it) But is his radio show three hours of him yelling? If so, I don't think I would be interested.

As far as the original topic goes I really enjoy Patrick's show. He had Bo Hart a few weeks ago and Bo said something like how much he enjoyed Patrick's show and would love to be back on agian. And Patrick told him if a more notable guest cancelled agian he may consider having Hart on. I was rolling. You have to admit he is a bigger name than a lot of athletes who we are supposed to hold in such high regard.

Thanks shorty. Scott Van Pelt does the best job right now.

I did enjoy the Bakay segment where he was detailing his picks from inside the closed trunk of a car. "running out of air, but this is where I do my best work".

Does Bakay actually pick games, and then create a bit based on how his picks go, or does he just choose which games to put in his bit after the weekend?

Funny, he is THE broadcasting personality I hate the most, and the one I try hardest to avoid. Someone complained about Patrick being pompus?

You know who is a real a$$hole,......Dan Le Batard. That an has no clue about anything. If you don't believe me, read is column in the latest ESPN the Magazine, where he says that the NFL has the worst contracts for its players and shares the least money with them. Never mind that the 51% of the entire television contract is given to the players where the remaining 49% is spread out to the owners. Pure bullsh*t!

Batard has no freaking clue,....that bastard

Hey, put an s in is name in the right place,...and you get a true description

I am curious, do you know that information is wrong? Is there a team sport in which a lower share of revenue goes to the players? While LeBatard is indeed an idiot, I think his facts are correct here.

Football: 51%
Basketball: ~65% (the cap is 53% of revenue, but since the cap is soft, most teams are over).
Baseball: There is no truth here.
Hockey: Right now, I am guessing they pay their players roughly 125%-150% of revenues.

After looking over more information, I somewhat see your point Samdari. I checked the minimum salaries of the NBA and NFL (I hocse not to look at MLB or NHL because their salary systems are so out of whack there is no comparison) Here is what I found:

NBA: http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm
NFL: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/news/2001/06/05/nfl_agreement_ap/

As can be seen, the NBA does pay about an average of 50,000 dollars minimum salary more than the NFL, but if you look at the scharing of total league revenue, the NFL Players can receive 71% (very bottom of article) of gross revenues without the salary cap increasing. You may have a point, but the differences are closer than they appear

As to the guaranteed contracts that Batard made so much stink about, NO ONE ON EARTH SHOULD RECEIVE GUARANTEED CONTRACTS, at least no in America. That is the beauty of capitalisim, you work hard you get paid well. Is it always fair, no as in the case of an injury. But the minute you start swinging the other way, large problems can occur (i.e., Communisim and MLB: related?????)

They have it on one of the stations here and it really is unlistenable. Nothing like trying to listen to some sports and having a whole segment on something like last night's tv. Not only that, but tv I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole.
