Well i'm no a big baseball fan but i promissed myself that i will watch tons of matches and learn all about it on next season to enjoy the new OOTP6. In the mean time this promisses to be a really fun game mixing RPG with Text sims. This promisses to be a great playing weekend, i'm really addicted to FOF2k4 on a SP Panthers dynasty and eNFL online league, ITP will be released on Friday and i guess TPF too in a few days. Great news for the text sims fans :)

I like OOTP, but this game never interested me. On the other hand, I don't really know anything about it other than the premise, so I really need to take a look at it.

Good news indeed. I hope there will be a fully functioning demo so I can decide if I want it...I already KNOW I'm getting TPF

Ditto, except I don't really have the desire to even look at it.

This is probably going to be a buy when it's released for me. I have no idea if the game will be good (although it looks good IMO), but I think the originality of the game alone deserves my support.

I have put this on my Christmas wish list and will probably get on Christmas day or soon after if the wife doesn't give it to me :)

As I said before, it's the premise behind the game that intrigues me very much. RPG in sports is kind of interesting, even though I'm not the biggest baseball fan out there...

Yep, I'm with you FM. I rank baseball slightly below bowling for entertainment value, but the RPG aspect is just too intriguing for me to pass this title up. Hopefully Markus will look at expanding the concept into other sports.

A football sim with this concept would simply be amazing! :)

Icy, we know about it ;) I have it, paid the big $5 to register it :)

There was a NSS fever at some point a few months ago and many FOFC members were playing it...

As you must have understood, I meant the kind of football that isn't really played with our feet :)

While NSS was a neat little game for $5, I don't think it approaches the detail we're going to see with ITP. And I agree, a football version would be incredible.

I own NSS too and will help betatesting NSS2 that will be more detailed but yeah, ITP is supossed to be much detailed as Markus has more experience and also the great OOTP base.
About a football one, yeah would be great, but i think that football is too complicated to develop that kind of game, lets say you play as Tackle, what would be the options in game? Football is a team strategy game, you can't code a game like that, the AI would need to be really amazing, it is not even fully developed at General manager text sims.

Huh. Mind you, this is still me being kinder and gentler, so I pose this only as a question -- is there any irony in ITP being announced for release on the same date as the rumored release date for TPF?

KC, I see much irony. Oh well, I think TPF has a well bigger market than ITP. And you just gotta wonder if Markus knows the actual date of TPF release (considering he and Joe's former ties) and just did a 'pre emptive strike' by an noucing it earlier.

I suspect the release date has more to do with the fact the game is actually ready to be released, but I'm just guessing. :D

Bee, are you on the beta for TPF? Is it not near ready?

It has to be some sort of conspiracy and underhanded plot, whyelse would 2 companies release games on the Friday(payday for many) before Christmas.......

geez...

Oh, goodness gracious! I'm NOT saying there is a conspiracy or sinister plot. But if OOTP and .400 split, I say there is no chance these games get released on the same day. The irony is that both sides agree that the split was peaceful, yet they are releasing games opposite each other. There doesn't have to be anything sinister to make that ironic.

Some may prefer to label that as a coincidence, of course. And perhaps I have simply lived in the real world so long and have become so cynical that I have a hard time believing that politics never enter into business decisions.

No, I'm not on the beta. My comment wasn't meant as a comment on TPF, but that the release of ITP probably has nothing to do with the TPF release date only that ITP is ready for release.

My thoughts exactly. If the games are ready to be released at any point around Christmas, you simply HAVE to release them before Christmas, otherwise you've lost out on a great sales opportunity.

Who cares which comes first? While I'm sure there will be some overlap in interest, this isn't quite the same as FOF and TPF coming out within hours of each other.

But you have to admit the conspiracy theory is much more entertaining. :D

LOL!

The reasons why I release ITP are...
1) It'll be ready.
2) I want to party the weekend before XMas, and I cannot do this when I have to work ;)

As buggy as TDCB was at that time, I still played it quite a bit when I was at my mom's house last Christmas. I love her dearly, but I can only take so much discussion about who died recently, and only so much Bill Gaither Hour on TV/VCR. :p
