The 3 day demo is in no way enough time to completely check the game out, so if you have bought the game i would appreciate an answer in your honest opionion on the following items. I'm in the process of downloading the game as I type this.

Does the computer AI properly value star players in trades and by keeping their star players around when their contracts begin to expire? An example of this not happening would be in FOF2K4 when the salary demands begin to get out of hand and top players like great QB's begin to flood the free agent market each season and begin to sign for lesser money with computer teams than they would for a human team.

Are there any weird and unrealistic stats in the game that you have seen?

Is the offseason mode deep enough to keep peoples interest over a long period of time?

Are their draft busts ala Sam Bowie picked before Michael Jordan? And do players develop as you would expect? How often does MJ caliber players appear in the draft?

How does the game handle the salary situations? In the NBA their in no salary cap but their is a luxary tax, how does the game simulate this realistically?

Are there any bugs in the current build that need to be addressed that drastically affect gameplay?

How do player personalities and owner personalities affect the game? Can you accidently assemble a team the Portland with all the attitudes that conflict or maybe get a team cancer like Rasheed who underachieves and makes a fool of himself?

And last but not least do you reccomend the game to other people?

Thanks any info would be appreciated.

Yes, the computer AI does everything possible to keep its stars. It will try to offer them extensions and then will try and use their bird rights to hang onto their star players always. The only reason the computer team wouldn't offer a contract to a star is if they knew the star player was not going to resign with them no matter what. Unlike in the NFL, teams in the NBA can go over the cap to resign their own players so you won't get that flooding of stars in the FA market

the offseason consists of coach hiring, scouting college players (with a mock draft), the draft, a summer league report, a detailed and depthful free agency module and training camp

There are draft booms and busts and yes, there is the possibilty that you get a mega, mega star at some point.

The luxury tax is represented by a luxury cap amount you get to set upon league inception - any team that goes over that amount gets a cash penalty to their financial statement - the salary rules and structure mimic that of the NBA's collective bargaining agreement

There are no major bugs in the current build (1.2) that drastically affect gameplay. There are some things that will be fixed in an upcoming update (1.3) that will be out before Christmas

Player personalities play a big role in how the player "behaves" both in games and in other areas and player personalities have the ability to affect other players on the team as well. "Cancers" play a role in your team's success. Owner personalities dictate whether or not you retain your job with the team as GM (only if you play with the Fire GM mode on)

And of course, I would recommend the game to anyone :)

Are there any patches out that make the roster real NBA players, teams, etc?

Thanks. I'll try out the demo in a few days.. could someone tell me if the stats are realistic? Not like in NBA Live 2001 (last basketball game I've used for simming seasons), where you see 5 rebounds per game as the leader, everyone is over the cap, etc..

I wish I hadn't jumped the gun and used my 3 days the day the game was released. It is starting to sound like it's becoming a very solid sim.

:(

The stats are pretty good IMO. Still some tweaking needed, but they're now solid and getting better with each patch.

I'll try it out in a few days, and can post my thoughts here if you'd like.
