If I have the highest GPA in the nation in a given year and no one on my team gets academically ineligible going into the next year....how does my overall academic reputation go down? If you're at a school with a starting average academic reputation of 50 like Nebraska...is there any chance of the overall rating getting much higher than that? My yearly GPA is around 3.00 and always in the top 10 in the nation and only go after players that have a 1000 SAT score. After 17 years of it basically going nowhere...am I just doomed by the settings in the game...or is there a way to boost this even more?

I think there's a limit you can reach with most schools, though it's obviously higher for some schools (Duke/Stanford) than others. My GPA has been #1 for like the last 40 years and I'm still barely in the top-10 in rep. (my SCE school). My ranking in subjects is still surprisingly low (between 1-20), and I have yet to acquire all of the programs in my curriculum (sp?). Hope you can go higher than that, because if you can't going to a school with a low rep. will be tough as hell.

Well that's what I thought...and it's very depressing. It kinda makes me want to go back to just getting any old guy to come play for me. I might as well go old school Barry Switzer on the bit.

Dola - Ok I think I just answered my own question by looking at an old thread with a copy of the help manual about academics posted.

Any other thoughts would be welcomed however.

I'd played as Nebraska a few dynasties ago, inheriting the team with a 61 in academic reputation. Within about 5 seasons I'd raised it to 70, where it remained thereafter (actually fluctuating between 69-70). I had my settings such that my team GPA was consistently 3.30 or higher, which was almost always tops in the country, usually by a good margin.

I think all schools have some ceiling on their academic rep that is at least partly based on the number of majors offered. If you consistently have the highest GPA and you avoid academic suspensions, you should get your school to that ceiling within 5-6 seasons or so and stay there.

3.30? Wow. Were you happy with the way your players progressed as well? Did you notice a bit of a drop off with so much time spent in Study Hall?

I recruit only guys with GPAs over 3, test scores over 1000 and from H.S. with academic prep over 50. Most of my players need between 14-20 in study hall, which leaves enough room for weight training and film study IMO. My practice setting is at 17, which may be lower than others use. I find that my players progress nicely with these settings. One thing that obviously helps is having coordinators that develop their positions well.
