View Full Version : I'm Pregnant!

Well, I'm not, but my wife is!

As of today she is 15 weeks pregnant.

I have been somewhat superstitious about sharing this with many people (we've had our share of "issues" making this happen) but she has officially moved into the 2nd trimester, so it's pretty safe to let the world know. It's not like anyone who sees her can't tell anyway... She is very obviously pregnant to anyone who knows her.

We've started to discuss names, and I'm hoping for:

Vince

Herschel

Even if it's a girl. I don't think she'll go for that, though.

How about Beowulf? That's a stonger name than any Vince or Herschel.

Hmmm, that's odd. My wife was an evil demon before and after the pregnancy. Those 9 months were super. :D

For me it was during the pregnancy and the 2-3 months following. I actually considered going the Catholic Priest route, but in the end decided against it figuring that some evils are just to powerful.

If the wife and I decide to have a 2nd child, I'll throw that name out there, but I would expect a quik rebuttal.

Thanks guys. Yes it is our first. We've been trying to have a child for almost 2 years now and have been told by 2 Doctors that it would be almost impossible for us to do it naturally. So we were about to start up some fertility treatments when BANG! What do you know!

Things are going pretty well so far. She's tired all the time and has had serious bouts of nausea almost every day. Strangely, the only thing that seems to help the nausea is eating, so she eats about 20 meals a day.

I made the mistake of saying something along the lines of "You're eating for two, not ten!" and um... I won't go into details, but for future reference, never say that to a pregnant woman. Trust me.

My wife and I started trying for our second when our daughter was nearly three and things looked bad for a while. We went to a fertility specialist after a few years of trying in order to talk and set up future appointments. When we returned for some major tests, the first thing they ran was a pregnancy test on my wife and, lo and behold, I had knocked her up! Some times, things just work out. :)

good news. the middle trimester is usually the easiest part of the pregnancy. the nausea tends to subside, and the woman usually hasn't yet grown into something roughly the same size as Barney (with the same mobility). essentially, you have about a 3 month break...which is only to give you time to prepare for the 3rd trimester. Two words "Look OUT!". :)

congratulations.

"Magnus" is a good boy's name. :)

Like the Simpsons, where Homer changed his name to "Max Power"!

I've been watching too many "World's Strongest Man" competitions...

Sage advice, that. I'll add a warning of my own: never, under any circumstances, should the word walrus be used around a pregnant woman. That's a good way to Kervorkian yourself.

Congrats KWhit!

Yeah my wife is 8+ months pregnant right now and we're finally enjoying it. 6 months of throwing up every day, sometimes almost all day. It was really tough. Finally she got over it in the 7th month and now we're having a blast. Can't wait to see the little guy!

Congrats!

It's funny... I've always said that I don't care if it's a boy or a girl. And I don't, it's true. BUT... The other day we went into a baby store and started looking at cribs and wallpaper and bedding (just for fun, we're not buying anything yet, obviously) and I took a look at the girly stuff - flowers, bunnies, random pink crap, etc. Then I looked at the boy stuff - blankets with baseballs & footballs, rocketships, dinosaurs, etc. and for the first time thought of how cool it would be to have a boy.

Also, I'd probably kill any punk boy who came near my little girl. And by little girl, I of course mean any age until I'm dead.

:)

My wife still tells the story (her version anyway) of the reaction I had when we found out the baby would be a boy.

After the doctor answered my question of "Are you sure" with (no kidding) "See that right there? That's not his finger", well ... I don't really remember much after that.

Congratulations KWhit!!! Many, many good times will come... The first one's a toughie, but you'll get used to it ;)

Some have given advices, so I'll go along with mine too: a pregnant woman is always, and I mean ALWAYS right :)

Speaking of pregnancies, isn't Frogman past due?

Not to threadjack, but as a matter of fact yes, I am, err, we are, err my wife is past due. Theoretical due date was January 7th. She had her final checkup exam with her doc yesterday and date of induction has been set for this coming Thursday, if kiddo doesn't want to come out before then... He's following the path of his older brother, who had to be induced 2 weeks past the due date. There was no way the wife was gonna let it slip a full 2 weeks past the due date this time around... :)

I'll keep you all posted when something happens...

My wife was nauseous (feeling) twice with our first one, and was a bit more nauseous with the second, but it only lasted the first couple of months and she never actually got sick. Guess we got lucky...

Trust me, you won't miss a thing if it's a girl and not a boy. My daughter's now seven weeks and I'm continually amazed that she's here. What's more, she's now beginning to grasp there's a little more going on in the world and that she can begin to control and manipulate things (she's already got control and manipulation of people down pat, though... :) ). It's not making connections yet in her mind, but you can see her working on it a bit from time to time.

My wife is already expecting me to turn her into a sports fan. Heh. :)

Sleep now. Sleep often. Because you will not sleep when the baby gets here. :D

I have a 3 month old, and he eats like a starving animal. Of course, he's huge - already wearing 9 month old clothes. He's got "middle linebacker" written all over him.

I suppose I could have given him a more menacing name, but we went with Franklin Noble Brown, Jr.

Then again, everyone around the house calls him by his nickname.... Bubba.

Ah, good point, I hadn't thought of that. I'm not in favor of alliteration in that case either. Team names, yes. People names, not so much.
