Good move IMO.
It gives the Bills a good offensive mind to go with their strong defence.

They had nowhere to go but up....unless they hired John Shoop.

<sigh> I wanted Fassel.
Yeah what a great job Mularkey did in Pittsburgh this year... But if something goes bad we can always say "That's just Mularkey"

I'm all for any Tecmo Super Bowl players becoming head coaches. hopefully QB Eagles is next.

As long as he doesn't coach the Bills :D

they should name QB Bills as the Senior Vice President of Football Operations, then Mularkey and Donahoe can report to him

QB Bills never played for the Steelers so that won't happen.....
WHat about Marv Levy.....

I was hoping Levy would pull a Gibbs and be roaming the sidelines with the Motorolas on in 2004!

How is QB VIkings doing? Is he still a commentator.
Loved the headbands with "Rozelle" on them.
Sorry if Im on a different version of Tecmo than the rest of you.
And the Steelers staff is in disarray. The whole team needs to be blown up IMO....unless they just have an amazing draft, by which I mean hitting on almost every pick.

I haven't seen them up close much, but I haven't gotten this impression at all. Frankly, it looks like a veteran QB, and an RB drafted in the 1st or 2nd round would probably put them right back in the playoff race.

Yeah - maybe losing the two coordinators will turn out to be the best thing that happens to this team...

Actually, I think their biggest problem is pass defense.
EDIT: I also don't think Mularkey is a good hire.

For some reason the title of this thread cracked me up.

Mularkey pissed me off cause he never used Anwaan Randle El like he should have...so under utilized even though Mularkey was really high on him. Maybe that was a Cowher decision...if so I hope Mularkey trade for 'Twaan.

I can't believe Jerry Glanville hasn't gotten a call yet.

I'm hoping for Tecmo Bo myself. Maybe Mularkey will bring in Kordell and get the Bills in the running for a top 5 pick next year. The East keeps looking like a two horse race more and more. Christmas for Pats fans comes late. First Marino and now getting to keep both their coordinators.

Steelers lack offensive line depth. Secondary is banged up. Qb situation isnt so hot. DLine aint that great either. Plus we have a lot of money tied up in slightly above marginal players. This is like a 2-3 year project, unless they draft insanely perfect, and steal some top notch FA for no money at all.

Oh, yeah, and the Running game is pretty much crap too.

Actually the DL is solid. Smith is good, Hampton is AWESOME in the middle and Kimo is coming off a career year. They are set at LB and the secondary play improved at the end of the year, but still needs upgraded. Take up Lewis and add LeBeau (hopefully) and one impact DB, you will see a drastically improved defense.
Offensively, when Mike Mularky threw and threw and threw the ball in the blizzard against the Jets, that is when it was enough. Mularky can be an OK head coach and will improve the Bills next season, but it was time for him to move on from the Steelers.

You are right about the D-Line. This is quite possibly the best group of defensive linemen in Pittsburgh since Ray Seals, Joel Steed, and Brenston Buckner manned the unit in the mid 90s.
The Steelers need a OLB that can rush the passer. I have a feeling they'll cut Gildon in the next month or so (thank goodness, he's been done for a little over a year now) and they'll need someone to replace him. Haggans and/or Jackson may be able to do the job, but I'd still like to see them go after a decent specialist that will allow them to do more things with Porter on the weak side. Once that happens, the pash rush improves dramatically. An impact DB would be nice...but I'm not sure who they can get...
On offense, they need at least one good tackle (perhaps another if Marvel Smith's nerve injury doesn't heal) and a solid running back. Anything to reestablish the running game. The Steelers proved this year that they're not good enough offensively to chase teams out of Cover-2 with the pass...so, in my mind, they'll have to go back to blasting them out of it with the power running attack. Once the safety starts walking up in the box, Ward and Burress can take care of the rest...

Dillon is not a free agent yet.
It will be very interesting to me to see what/if teams looking for a veteran RB are willing to trade for him

Well I saw that Dillon wants to stay with the Bengals now that they have a good chance....well too bad Dillon. Johnson seems to be able to run just as well and at a much lower salary cost. I'm sure they'll trade him away. I dont know if Pitt is a good fit for him though or if they would even want him. Dont the Steelers and Cowher still believe they already have their long term running back in Amos? That is what I had been hearing. Bettis should just retire before his knees just totally stop working.

I'm personally hoping dillon goes somewhere, but the Bengals have to get a good price for him. his cap hit for the last two seasons isn't something to sneeze at so we need at least a late first early second round pick to compensate. I think he can stil be a pro bowl rusher in this league, but his attitude needs a new home, I'm sick of His whining.
