My wife had the baby at 6:29 A.M. today after 23 hours of induced labor. Both baby and mom are fine. She did it all with no pain medication at all. I don't know how she did it. Zachary is 8 lbs. 13 and 1/2 ounces and is 21 inches long. Ok, I am tired. Off to bed early tonight.

congrats man... 21 inches...

My sister had a baby last week, and she was in induced labor for a little over 12 hours.

You better keep your boy away from my little niece.

Congrats!

A few helpful tips:

Breastfeeding is key. It saves money, and you don't have to wake up in the middle of the night...that is, unless your pecs can produce milk :)

If you don't breastfeed, write to the formula companies (email or snail mail...snail mail is better) and tell them how much you love their product and how much your future football player loves it. They will send you coupons for free formula (this also works to a lesser extent with diapers).

On a final note, pic?

Thank you everyone. I am really tired so I will be heading to bed right after this.

My wife was trying to breastfeed today. It was going ok.

As for a pic. My hosting site changed there setup so I can't send pics right now. Plus I am too tired. If I have time this weekend I could email someone here a pic and they could post it.

Ok I am off to bed for awhile.

If you want to e-mail the pic to me I'll put it up for you. Just let me know... :)

Enjoy your rest.

About a month ago, I got an email from a porn site that speciallized in lactation pics. I was struck with a blend of revulsion and curiosity. Enough that I scrolled down to see the whole pic in the email. It was two women squirting each other in the face with their breast milk. I was once again amazed at what turns some people on, and at how far a woman can shoot breast milk.

Regarding the topic at hand though Congrats.

Edit to say: HEY!! I clicked quote button on a post where someone said they wanted a pic of his wife breast feeding...The quote didn't appear, and now the post looks to be gone. Now I look like an insensitive perv for posting what I did.

Great news, Dolph. Congratulations!

Sadly, however, my wife's sister's son was supposed to be born today. Unfortunately, he didn't make it. The cord wrapped around his neck, perhaps even a day or two ago, and he was stillborn this afternoon. If you're the praying sort, John and Julie are the parents.

We had a hell of a time with breastfeeding our daughter...or I should say, my wife did. For the first week, we had to tape a small tube to our pinky finger to get her to eat, because she simply couldn't get the hang of sucking for her food [insert joke here]. My wife was never able to get her to breastfeed all the time, so we did half and half - and most of the time, the breast milk was still done by bottle like the formula, we had to buy one of those pumps and that's how she did it.

We just went this morning for the second ultrasound, and in the past month, our doctor got one of those 3D/4D ultrasound machines. WOW! Very cool. At some point between the 28th and 33rd week, they will make a VHS/CD-Rom of the baby in 3D, all for just $150. What a deal. We were able to video tape the first one, but thanks to malpractice claims, they don't allow that anymore. They just charge for it now, and presumably control what is shown on the tape/disk. Whatever.

Congratulations dude! His Patriots jersey is in the mail ;)

Tomorrow's the big day for us, going to the hospital at 8am, where my wife will also be induced. Please keep us in your thoughts for the day. Reading the sad story from Revrew just freaked me a little, I'm shaking...

Congrats, Dolphin!

My wife was also induced back in November. Checked in on the 19th at 7, baby was born just after 10 the next night, so 27 hours total. She wasn't as lucky as your wife was, though. She was really needing the pain medication by the afternoon of the delivery and was utterly exhausted by delivery time (probably because neither one of us could sleep at all during the overnight).

Time seems to have crawled along since she was born. It's hard to believe she's eight weeks old. It feels like longer.

Staying up half the night will do that to you. The days are longer because you're awake for more hours!

For our first baby, my wife started her contractions at 10:30pm, meaning we stayed up all night with them and then drove to the hospital in the morning. About 2:00pm the next day, after she had the epidural put in, a nurse came in and told her it would be several hours before she was ready to push. So she gave herself some extra "juice" with the epidural. 20 minutes later another nurse came in, and it was time to go. My wife was so drugged up she couldn't feel a thing for about 5 hours after the baby was born.

Actually, I'm sleeping through the night because I don't have to feed her like my wife does. Fortunately, we're keeping her in our room for the timebeing so my wife doesn't have to do much during the night other than put her in place and let her eat. Me being the side-sleeper that I am, I sleep with my back to them and don't notice much of anything going on behind me. It all works out well because my wife is a stay-at-home mom, so she doesn't have to have a solid eight hours and then confront a job the next day.

I did the exact same thing... my wife breastfed, I slept with my back to both of them... and slept all through the night without so much as noticing the baby was even awake.

By the way, next boy I have I'm going to name "Bob Weadababyeetzaboy".

Hey Dolph, congrats !! Hope you sleep anything in the next days :)

I had my second baby a couple of months ago (a beautiful girl named Alicia) and I know what it's like sleeping no more than three hours in a row.

Anyway it's worth it.

Peace,
K.

Yeah, for some reason I couldn't get Paint Shop to recognize the file. Therefore I couldn't knock it down in size a little bit. Oh well, nothing wrong with a big baby... :)
