Ok, I thought I knew the answer to this question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. I've had a player who since the start of the season has had awful form, and it's still wretched. I play him every friendly, why is he not getting better... is there anything else I can do to get his form better, because he should be one of my best players, but with his form so low he's awful. Thanks.

There are three things that you can do:
1. Put his lazy ass back on the transfer market.
2. Train General.
3. Continue doing what you have been doing and cross your fingers.
Sometimes players go into a funk. I would suggest option #3. Training General is a waste of money. He probably won't fetch too much as a transfer if every game he has played for you has been below poor form. The only people who would buy him would be a daytrader.

What Raven Hawk said.
DK had his striker go into a form funk for a whole season a couple of seasons ago and all he could do was ride it out. It blows.
If this form funk thing is something he does frequently, he may have low internal form and you'll be best off selling him off once his form reaches inadequate again. If it's a freakish one-time thing, then he should be valuable again once he's out of it.

Only a portion of your team is selected to have their form curve adjusted each week. He may have reached his form destination, and just hasn't been selected to have it curve back upwards.
I really need to start proofreading before I post

This is something I have been wondering about lately - does "internal form" exist - meaning a player is predisposed towards a good or bad form. I don't think this exists (although I used to).

I don't know.. things like Arlen "Headcase" Lucas going a whole calendar year without dropping below passable make me think there is some kind of modifier in there.

Dataking also trains at 100% with 8 or 9 assistants and Headcase was always playing. A bit of luck would keep him at or above passable for a season.
There are a lot of variables that go into determining form of which two are completely random (getting selected for an update, and the random factor which is a component of that updated target form) that makes it difficult to determine if there is a predisposition fir certain players to have a certain form.

Masked: Not a _season_... a year.

Ah, Dataking could be just one really lucky guy.
That certainly seems like good evidence however it is only one player.
TargetPractice may need to read his posting before submitting them, but I need to read the person's post to whom I am replying first.

As I think about it, I may just be recalling incorrectly. Someone please jump in if this is the case.
Either way, I train at 100% w/ 8 asst.'s, and have some "form dogs" (as well as "workout warriors")... it'd take some detailed record-keeping over a long period of time to really be certain of any trends, though. (Well, not too detailed - just a lot of data)

According to starcheck and Hatstats, Lucas has spent a grand total of 3 weeks in inadequate form since season 18. That is damn impressive - of course now he will plumment to weak tonight because we are talking about him.

Starcheck?
Great site that gives you a players form and star history for all matches where they put up 2.5 or more stars. You can find a link to it off Hattrick's community page.

Carter Deluca (U20 winger) has been in excellent form ever since I took over. I don't believe there is an internal predisposition towards a certain form (passable seems to be the mean for most players though).

Well about 225,000 Hatrick teams with 20 players on each team is around 4.5 million players. That would make the odds of one player going a calendar year or two at passable or better seem almost certain.

I agree with TP... I think the natural form is passable, meaning it seems like players stay extraordinarly high sometimes, when it's not really that big of a deal.
