Ok, my dad has encountered an error on his computer, and I've never heard of it before, so I thought I'd ask some of the more tech savvy guys here to take a look at it. This is what he told me happens...

He boots up the computer, is starts running things...before it even gets windows up and running, however, it says 'Missing NTLDR, press any key to try again.' When he presses any key, it reboots the computer, and keeps looping through this process.

As far as I know, they have Windows 2000 on their computer. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

make sure he doesn't have a floppy/CD loaded.

Thanks MikeVic...I imagine if I wasn't such a lazy SOB I probably could have found that myself

I just pasted it into google, so it wasn't a problem for me. :D Not sure if you get the error due to what microsoft says it's from, but the solution should work to solve that type of error...

Heh :) I'm not sure how my dad managed to get the error on his system...there's no way he'd try to re-install an OS over what he already has; he'd never know where to begin. At any rate, I'm at School, and he's back home, so I haven't been able to take a look at it yet. Hopefully that'll work for him...not sure if he'll follow the instructions though :)

A friend of mine had that problem a couple weeks ago........that is the exact article I used to fix it. Worked like a charm. BTW...he wasn't upgrading either, but he still managed to get it as well.

That's the first thing I thought of. I remember my dad forgetting to take out a floppy disk once and calling me with that error. I ruled that out when he called, but I should have asked that right off the bat. :D
