View Full Version : Vegas Tycoon finally makes it to America.
Browsing the internet looking for a good strategy game I come across the title Vegas Tycoon. A release date of Jan 15, 2004.
The game features mentioned here blew me away
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/vegamakeitbig/preview_6028015.html
And, it also looks like it all ready has a little overseas following.

btw---Looks like a lot of people are mad about the low American Price tag $19.99 after paying around $60.00 for their european counterpart.
Has anyone tried this game yet? Been searching the web and all the reviews seem very positive about this game. Is there an American fan site up anywhere?

Don't know anything about American fansites, but the game does look great. I might have to take a look at this. Thanks for the heads-up!
Read about it a month ago, seems a funny game.

It has gotten pretty good reviews in the UK if you're interested.

I played the demo and I quite liked it. It's very similar to Theme Park. Only problem was I spent three hours making the worlds greatest casino, forgetting it was only a demo and that I wouldn't be able to use the save feature :(

I cant seem to download the demo. I try to but when I clicked " Click here if download doesnt blah " it opens a tiny box for like 3 seconds then that closes. Then nothing.

Holy cow...$19.99! That's pretty much a clean cut acquisition on my part.

Is this the game that came out today under "Vega$ Tycoon"? if so i'm off to the store to get it. the demo was a lot of fun and I normally don't like these types of games
It's the same game as Vega$ Tycoon, i have been playing it today, it's really really deep so it would be perfect for Tycoon fans, for me is too detailed, too many options as you must take care about all your buildings and also all into them, like furniture, to paint the walls (the interior designs looks like "the sims") where top place the slot machines, setup the bets, hire mechanics, security guards, etc etc. the 3d view is a bit hard to manage at least until you get used. I like tycoon games but this one is too deep, would be great having tons of hours per day but to play 2 hours per day is too overhelming.

The face that it might be "too deep" sounds appealing to me as often times I would like the option, though not be required, to micromange in a Tycoon game. What are other's experiences?

this game sounds very interesting, I may have to check out the demo:)
I just ordered Vega$ Tycoon from Bestbuy.com. $19.99 + Free shipping
Vega$ Tycoon (http://www.amazing-bargains.com/bestbuy/computer-software/entertainment/family-games/emp21304-vega-tycoon-windows-6202619.html)
Since the nearest BestBuy is over 150 miles away I took advantage of their free shipping offer. Although I still had to pay Tax?

Ugh! I clicked the 'Buy Now!' on the link, and got a 'Page not found' error. Arg, I say!

The good news is that I got my game back from my girlfriend today, she confiscated it for the last couple of days. And having just wasted another 5 hours playing this game I thought I would post about it.
I don't know what it is about this game, but an addiction it is. When I am not at my computer playing it I am thinking about it. I sit down to my computer and time stops. I don't eat, drink, or even watch TV when I am playing this game. When I get up my legs hurt because I have been completely inactive for hours.
This game should not appeal to me. It is NOT that deep of a business sim. It does NOT use real dollar amounts. It does NOT use a real time frame. The needed information is not readily available. What should take minutes to set up takes me hours to design. I should hate this game. This game should be sitting at the back of my closet with all the other been there done that games. I have not been this addcted to a game in years.
Its deepness comes from its gameplay, not in the forms or stats that are available. You have to watch/talk to the population of your city to determine the needs of the masses. The "If you build it, they will come" philosophy is the quickest way to the poor house. I learned this the hard way always building an upgraded Strip-Joint(+lap dancing) next to my casinos only to watch it sit vacant losing money day after day.
I spend most of my time on pause. First building the casino, then wondering through it; finding out what the masses think of it. Want to know about the price of your drinks at the bar, ask a "Biker Chic" they always seem to have a comment about price of drinks. And, everybody has something to say about the "Noise", I just can't seem to crack this complaint yet.
What this game boils down to is simple supply and demand gaming. Know your population and exploit the hell out of them. Well since it is only 11 PM I think I will try to play another hour before I go to bed. LOL...I hope I don't see the sunrise again today.

Now that you tell me all that, Taur, I'd still like to hear more. This game sounds great. Any more information appreciated as long as you can pry yourself away from your computer long enough to post again!

YAY! Some stores around here finally have it in stock so I'm off to get it today as I've played the demo to death already.

Did the demo horrifically lag for anyone else or is it just me? The loading times were incredibly slow on my system!

No, I didn't have any problems with the demo and I wouldn't call my machine a monster (tho it's good). The worst part was the initial loading but after that there weren't any issues.

I'm bumping this because I have a question. I downloaded the UK demo and tried to run it, but it would load up to the main menu and I'd be unable to click the button to begin a campaign. The mouse pointer moves and the menu is animated with sound and all, but for some reason I can't click the buttons, even the one to quit. I know the Sandbox option and the Save option are blocked out, but the other ones should work. Has anyone else had this problem or know what it could be? My system meets all the requirements and then some. I'd like to buy the game if it's good, but if the demo won't even work, then I'm apprehensive about purchasing the full version.
Any help is appreciated.
