I wasn't going to post anything until it was actually confirmed but that report looks pretty accurate.

I really hope this is it for the next few years. I believe if Boise State also gets an invite and accepts that the Mountain West will be in a good position to go after a BCS bid. It most definitely strength-wise is on par with the revamped Big East.

Looks like no road games for me. :D

If I am Southern Miss, I also try to bail ASAP.

I'm suprised that Fresno State and Hawaii would be overlooked by Boise State for a seat in Mountain West.

Hawaii has history with the schools of the Mountain West. Once upon a time the Rainbow Warriors and the other Mountain West schools were the WAC. I doubt they want the travel expenses again to play in Hawaii for the other conference sports beyond football and basketball.

And where are they supposed to bail too? The MAC? The Sun Belt?

If the Mountain West gets Boise State than I think they should get the last automatic bid to the BCS, cause the Big East is horrid in Football

That is just plain wrong.

Southern Miss? Whata bout Memphis? I think they would be the most attractive program left in CUSA.

If I had to guess, Memphis is #1 on the Big East wish list if/when the Football and Basketball sides split (2010).

Very interesting. As a Fresno State fan, it would disappoint me to see Boise St. leave the WAC. Also, I find it interesting that the Mountain West is not interested in reuniting with Fresno State. Fresno has pretty good sports programs all around, they put a few guys in the NFL, NBA, and MLB, and they travel relatively well. There has been some "unpleasentness" regarding the NCAA and I wonder if that scares away the Mountain West.

UTEP wants in Conf USA... :o

Let me rephrase. C-USA is interested in UTEP. UTEP is weighing it's options right now. I think that if the Miners decided they wanted to go to C-USA, they would be in, no problem. But UTEP is also trying to get into the MWC, so they can be along side their old WAC buddies. UTEP regains control of the Sun Bowl from the city of El Paso in 2005, and there's talk that the Miners will try to use the Bowl as a bargining chip. Offer the Sun Bowl to the MWC as a bowl game, or for use in a conference championship game.

There's also a small faction of Miner fans who think that UTEP could use the Sun Bowl to get into the Big 12. Personally, I don't think that would ever be possible...

Oh, and here's a link to an article in today's El Paso Times about C-USA's interest in UTEP.

The Sun Bowl "chip" won't help UTEP get into the Big 12. They can get in bed with pretty much any bowl. I think Hawaii would be an interesting MWC choice.

From what I've heard being put on probation and the acceptance of partial qualifiers at Fresno is what is holding the MWC from being interested. Of course I'm not a Mountain West Insider and could be wrong.

I dont' know why you would be sad to see BSU leave the WAC, if they do then Fresno would have a chance of winning a conference title :D
