81- A new team high...and a huge 4-0 win at home

Can someone explain this to me? When a team is winning possession, that should mean that they get more opportunities, correct? Now, if an opportunity is created, and the defense stops the opportunity, will it mention the opportunity in the match report? Because I just had 82 and 86% possession (Solid vs. Wretched), yet only had two events, one of which was a set pieces event. Ended in a 1-1 draw. Not excited about it.

There seems to be some kind of dividing line between opportunities that go far enough to get mentioned and those that don't. Almost like there's a roll to see if there's an opportunity, then another roll to see if it goes in. You might also want to take a look at apoc's game simulator to see if that offers any insight. I have the source code for it, but I'm too lazy to look myself.

Yeah, I'm just a little unsure. His defense is fantastic (Magnificent, Brilliant, Outstanding), but my offense isn't that bad either (Formidable, Solid, Solid). Ah well...Actually, World Class-Brilliant-Outstanding. His Right and Central Defenses are 6 and 4 levels above your corresponding Solid Attacks which should have had a high possibility of shutting them down. His Outstanding Left Defense is "only" 1 level higher than your Formidable Right Attack which should have given you some possibilities since it seems like it takes a 3+ level defensive advantage to shut down offenses. Alas, you got unlucky and had crappy rolls.

Also, I don't know what kind of Team Confidence your team came into the game with. That may have had an effect on how many shots your team took.

Interesting to see you play a "Toward Wing" inner midfielder. I don't think I've seen it done before. Have you had good luck with it?

Heh. Got a 47 with a PIC despite a wretched midfield, with two Excellent ratings in defense (first time I've done that) it made for an interesting matchup as I lost 3-6. I've almost secured my spot in the division for next season - I'm 6th, 8 points ahead of 7th with 9 points left to play for.

Interesting to see you play a "Toward Wing" inner midfielder. I don't think I've seen it done before. Have you had good luck with it?Well, actually, it was a tactic I concocted specifically for this match. I knew I had a tremendous midfield advantage, and also knew that the only way I'd have a chance at breaking through his defense would be to max out on his weak side (Symmetrical 3-5-2, I wanted to attack the sole wingback). Since he always leaves that left side (I think it was left) 'weak,' I took my best Winger/Passing IM and put him towards the wing, as well as my best Winger defender and set him as an offensive wingback on that side. I then set my tactic as 'Attack on Wings' in hopes of getting more chances on that side (knowing that I'd be just as likely to get more chances against his strongest defense as well). To be honest, it didn't really affect the ratings that much, unless that's a mid-to-high formidable for that side's attack. I need to get an IM that's built for that sort of tactic before it becomes useful to me.

Hey Mr. Wednesday. How'd you get CHPP approval for this? Last I heard you say is they said it wouldn't be useful for enough people.
I'm intending to ultimately release the rating application. I still have some cleaning up to do to reach a beta release, and the actual mechanics of releasing it are still up in the air (since I don't have that much webspace, and my data service could be a real PITA to get a user up and running with, I'm using MSDE).

I think that was the key point, that I applied for a rating application rather than one or three ratings.

Edit: One of the reasons I originally applied was to get the LOTA ranking back off the ground, but I didn't mention that (or any particular fed rating) in my application.
