Ok, lets say there is this hypothetical team called the NE Oklahoma Sidekicks. And in 4 weeks, they'll have approximately $6,000,000 to spend, how should they spend it?

Here is this hypothetical team's typical ratings when in good form and after a middie is replaced

Midfield: outstanding
Right Side Defence: excellent
Central Defence: excellent
Left Side Defence: solid
Right Side Attack: formidable
Central Attack: excellent
Left Side Attack: outstanding

Would you go all out for a world class Keeper, get a brilliant or so keeper and spread the money out along the defensive or offensive front, go for a couple of stud strikers or what? I'm leaning towards the awesome Keeper, but I'm not sure, I've never dealt with money like this so I figured some opinions were in order. Thanks!

thats a tough call.... getting a "young" world class keeper willl improve your defense drastically and you won't even need to worry about a goalie again for 8-10 seasons or so.

Your offense could use a boost aswell. But hell... with 6 million i'd probally just say F*ck it and grab a WC keeper!! what the hell :)

I take it your training program doesn't need an upgrade?

Oh yes, I knew I had a million or so laid aside for something.

Just make sure you take a look at my team before you do anything:

Midfield: magnificent
Right Side Defence: supernatural
Central Defence: brilliant
Left Side Defence: solid
Right Side Attack: passable
Central Attack: solid
Left Side Attack: outstanding

I realize it's a little unbalanced but I played a team that had a strong/weak side..

I have 14 goals in 12 games this season.. and no it's not because my team stinks.. it's because I have VERY little offense compaired to the other teams. Vex.. I'm gonna be in the same boat as you shortly.. and minus maybe a backup player and trainees it's ALL going into offense.

I've always gone by the best team is one that is equal all over. There's people in my division that have 6 mil+ invested in one player.. the most I have.. (minus my trainees) is 1.75 mil.. and how do I beat them? because my worst starters are much better than their worst starters..

I'm not saying you shouldn't buy a better keeper.. I would suggest spreading out the money some..

Hope I helped.. :)

I know your team doesn't stink, you beat me in the ratings everyweek, even when I get an 86:)

Thanks, good point.

I'm very tempted to say "world class keeper" but I don't know what the stars and level improvement on defense for that looks like.

When are your next trainees due to sell? Or do you completely turn everything over at the end of the season and then no sales for a while? If that's the case, then I would say spread it around. However, if you have another $2M coming in next season from trainee sales, I'd say get the WC keeper now, while you have the cash then earmark next year's cash for strikers. I'm guessing the market for them will have slowed a little- tho that's based on nothing but idle speculation that they will tweak the engine slightly so that it doesn't favor offense so much.

Ahhh, blow it all on the world-class keeper... No, I'm not biased by the fact I'm going to have one for sale in 4 weeks :)

I'm assuming that you have the following:

An offensive coach.
2 decent wingers that you play offensive.

I would spend the money on:

1 outstanding/passable striker (scoring/passing)
1 outstanding/passable/inadequate+ wingback (defending/passing/winger)

The reason is:

The striker solidifies the only weakness you have on your attack.

The defender gives you a ton of options with tactics. Mostly you'll want to slide him out to the wingback position on the side that you pull your extra IM from. However, when playing against a 3-4-3 or and AIM, you can slide him over to central defender. If you're playing somebody who pinches a winger toward middle, you can use this WB normal or offensively to add to your attack on that side.

Keepers are nice to have, but you don't need a WC one right now. They are also the most expensive type of player to buy, so they limit your other options. At the same time, you can't alter the tactics for your keeper. He'll solidify your central defense, no doubt about it, but if your center defense was so good, why would I (as your opponent) attack you there. If I move my attacks to the wings, you can't move your keeper out there to counter . . .

Ahhhh . . . I did not know that.

In that case, my recommendation stays the same. ;) Get yourself a flexible, tactical team. :)

I think you should save up $2M more, and buy my Supernatural keeper around week 9/10 of next year.

Did I fail to mention that I will have an Outstanding/Passable/Excellent(sp) striker on the market in 2-4 weeks? ;)

actually I'm not sure I'll have money ready for then.. I have over a mil now.. but I don't expect to keep it for more than 2 weeks.. and I prolly won't have more money for another 4-6 weeks. :)

Considering that you didn't mention his passing, I'm assuming that it is not too high. Next midfielder I get needs to be offensive.
