Lets back up a bit! Going into week 10 I was in 3rd place. Now my next 2 games were against rank 2 then 1. Week 10 went by without a hitch, beating the 2nd place team, and thus thrusting myself into 2nd, 2 points ahead of the team i just beat. Week 11 got me nervous, as i will be playing the top team. I had some confidence coming off the win (5-2) of the previously rank 2 team (which beat me in week 5, 3-0).
This was the BIG game... After the training, two of my guys popped (in scoring). One guy going from passable to solid. and the other going from inadequate to passable. Ok now im happy, but that isnt all of it. I took a gamble and pulled a keeper, and ended scoring BIG-TIME! I got a solid keeper (previous team starter was inadequate).
The top ranked team beat me in week 4, 1-2 off of two very late goals. I was bummed, but now it was revenge.
I knew very well both of our teams were very equal. He had the "D" and my team had the offense (presently outscoring him by 11 goals to date). I knew it would be tough to score on him... and it was! They had 2 early scoring chances, which worried me big time. Then out of nowhere they had a penalty..."Hands" was the call. My set-pieces guy, Adrian Skutt put goal in at minute 16. I was floored!
In real life i was at work. And let out a Hip hurrah, and my co-workers looked at me weird. It was time to leave work. And i was on the bus ride home, wondering what was in store for me when i got home.
I ran quickly inside the house, turned on the computer, and saw the final score! 1-0
I Let out a Woot Woot! My roommate was pissed because his star player got injured for 5 weeks LOL! (he still won!). So anyways back to my team... In good sportmanship, i posted a great press anouncement to show my opponent respect, by stating he has a talented team, and i won by a fluke penalty.
So here i am going into week 12, sitting on a 1 point division lead. The 3rd ranked team i beat the week before tied, so now i have a 4 point lead over them! 3 weeks to go, and all i have are 2 wimpy teams, and 1 moderate 4th place team to contend with... The 2nd and 3rd place teams still have to play each other one more time!
