Basically, to avoid the rare shutout, I'm wondering about this. The article says he has a long history of drug trafficking. This makes sense. I doubt someone would begin their dealing career trying to buy a kilo.

If he was a first time buyer, then he would have surely wondered about the cost but I'm guessing that this is a reasonable, if cheap, price that a drug trafficker would pay. In that business you really do need to buy low and sell high if you're up in the food chain.

I'm thinking the judge had some evidence that showed that this guy knew what he was doing therefore the deal would make sense to him. In other words, I think the judge was banking on the fact that he knew what he was negotiating as opposed to him being too punch drunk to see he was being set up.
