Been keeping track of the supposed new start-up of the WHA. Twelve cities are supposedly set up and players in the NHL are talking about flocking there if the NHL goes thru with its lockout plans. So is this thing for real or not?

I won't believe it until it actually happens, but I'd like to see it happen.

I believe Winnipeg showed up at the big kickoff meeting, only to find out that they don't have a team :). Sounds really well run.
Remember just boycott Molson and all of your hockey problems will be solved. What? Hartford, Winnipeg and Quebec aren't in the NHL anymore?
Nevermind.
If you are and NHL player...making 2-4 million a year...would you risk your career for $100 000 a year in an upstart league?
WHL may get legs...but it will be no better than AHL hockey.

The WHA is definetely being planned. I believe Bobby Hull is involved somehow. The plan is to launch next year when there's no NHL season, draw some interest, perhaps steal a few players, and build from there.
In theory it's a decent plan, but I've seen several hockey analysts who've all pretty much agreed that it will never get off the ground.

Bobby Hull is the commissioner.
