Now that football is done for the season, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find something worthwhile to watch. I was hoping to make it through the next two days, at which time I'll at least get somewhat of a break from political ads. The Wisconsin primary is Tuesday, which is bad enough for my sanity. Add in the fact that our county has a very controversial referendum on whether or not to allow the Ho-Chunk nation to expand their bingo hall in Madison into a full-fledged casino, and you can guess we've been seeing and hearing nothing but political BS for weeks now.

Now for the final straw. I think there was a thread a little while ago about "The Littlest Groom". The horrid rash of this crap is already bad enough, but tonight I saw a commerical for another show where a heterosexual woman tries to pick a straight guy. If she is "successful", they split a million. If she picks a gay guy, he gets all of it. Can someone make me a good offer for my 36" WEGA before I throw it off my deck?? One of these days, I'm going to go postal on the whole lot of TV producers.

Ho-Chunk?

Good Lord, they must have been near the back of the line when God was handing out Indian tribe names.

mmm, 36" Wega.

I dig my 27" model, though I only use it for DVDs and video games.

If I could get satellite in my room, I might use it for sports, too, but that'd be all.

I was saying the same thing a few years ago as the Simpsons had seemed to hit a new low and nothing else was really that new/innovative. Then came "24" which made TV worth watching again.

24 is what made TV worth watching? What are you going to be telling me next, that CSI doesn't suck?

tv blows..100+ channels and nothing on is true. Go back to reading that's what I've done. I picked up the Hobbit and am reading that again for the 1st time in about 20 years.

You know there is an off button on the remote. My recommendation would be to use it, go get a brat and some beer, and stop trying to find things to make you angry. ;)

I like CSI

Actually, CSI is of a few shows I really like and consider quality tv- it's the stereotypical whodunit show that's been around for decades, updated with a shiny modern wrapping. Just because it's popular doesn't mean it's bad. I liked 24 but this season, I couldn't get into it. Monk was mentioned- that's another of my few regular shows. The Shield was one of my regular shows for a season and a half but has little rewatchability- a lot of it's attraction comes from it's shock value which is killed upon multiple viewings.

Am I the only one here who saw the previews for "The Littlest Groom" (or whatever) and thought of Fritz immediately?

Cartoon Network and Comedy Central do it for me. Most of the time, at least.

Dennis Miller, but just the part at the end when he talks to the 'Varsity Panel." Or anytime he has the chimp on.

I hope you realize that There and Back Again isn't an actual account of an adventurous midget named Bilbo.

Well, I almost made it through the day without watching TV. Went to a movie (which is very rare for me), but had to watch the weather and sports on the local news when I got back. Only saw one commercial each for Kerry, Edwards, and Dean in those 10 minutes. After tomorrow, at least the political ads will be done ... for a little while.

Well, the French named them Winnebago back in the 1600s, but they changed back to Ho-Chunk a decade or so ago. It means "People of the Big Voice".

Well, better that than being named after a big RV. ;)

CSI is one of the shows that I watch regularly. If for no other reason than it has some decent special effects that jump out at you on my hd set. If we can only get a few more shows that use technology for good... a sad side note of having an hd set is that I found myself wondering if the democratic debate on Sunday was on in HD hormat. Then I remembered that I'd be watching those five in HD, an ugly thought to say the least.
