My girlfriend is making me go. Has anyone ever been before? I think that night Randy Travis is playing. I have heard of him before, I think.

I've never gone, but I'm getting free tickets for Wednesday so the wife, kid and I are going. Should be interesting at least. If you're going to be there Wednesday, let me know GE, and we'll meet up or something.

I will only be there on Sat. I see your getting to see Vince Gill and Amy Grant. That should be a good show.

Dola - hopefully you can give me a heads up on what to expect.

I see there will be a cotton gin demonstration the day I am going. Woo, all I got to do is drive about a mile to see that. :D

I don't know who any of the people you're talking about are. And a livestock show?

Maybe you have heard of "Bow wow and the you got served" tour? For some odd reason, I don't see that sitting well with the rodeo crowd.

Nope. I was in Houston this weekend, though. I got to see the Rockets beat the Mavs. It was quite nice...

Basically one of the biggest Rodeos in the world. Lots of Country music singers and straight guys wearing chaps. Supposed to be lots of fun, but that has yet to be seen.

Dola.

Vince Gill I actually really like. Of course, my music taste spans just about the entire spectrum. Vince has this great, haunting quality, and my wife will dig Amy Grant singing.

Okay, true dola this time.

Jeebs, you need to tell me when you come to town man!

My girlfriend hails from the great city of Conroe. Yes I have to spend a whole week there. No, I am not looking forward to it.

Its got to be better than what Mississippi has to offer. I lived in Alabama for about 4 years growing up, and we always felt like it was entering backwards land driving through Mississippi to get to Texas during summer vacation.

It just really depends. Southaven is in the suburbs of Memphis and is one of the nicest towns you will find. Right now though I am going to school at Delta State, which is well, in the delta.

Mississippi is still better than Alabama though.

Oh yeah, nothing like country music to get me all excited and make me come on down to Houston...

Jeebs, you need to tell me when you come to town man!

Next time I'll be sure to. It was just a quick trip, not much time for extracurricular activities. Got into town at 2:30 Saturday morning, slept most of Saturday away before going to see Miracle, went to bed up early so that we could get up early and find the Toyota Center, and then left right after the game.

I'm sure I'll be coming down again sometime this summer to catch an Astros game or two. I'll be sure to give you a heads up when I do... :)

No. Is is similar to the "We're Going to Kill Our Fucking Van if it Dies Again" tour?

Man, if you come to Houston from DFW, you pass right by my house practically, so their is NO EXCUSE ;- )

If you come down for an Astros game, just give me warning and I'll get tickets too. The park is great, but not as great IMO as the Ballpark.

And GE, I am in no way going to defend the backwards state of Alabama, I just always thought it seemed less backwards than Mississippi. If you enjoy your state, then great, but man, you gotta get out of there and see what living in the 21st century is about ;- )

That would be great. And nothing would make a trip down there better than to see Pettite or Clemens or Oswalt or Miller or Dotel strike Pujols the fuck out...

:)

Are you on 45? What area are you in?

Lots of Country music singers...And if you're not a big fan of country, there's also generally a little pop and/or rock thrown in as well.

I've been. If you like that sort of thing, it's the best. I was drunk most of the time, so I can't really say what it's like to a sober person. I did see Clint Black, which was pretty cool. Back then, anyway.

Dola,

Don't trust Jeeber. He'll say he will show up, but then he's a no-show.

I use to work at the Bloodcenter right behind Reliant Stadium so I got to see it all the time. Real torture was when they were doing the BBQ cookoffs. Man, I was dying ! :D

Thankfully, it's not just country singers. I went and saw Bill Cosby with my parents one year. That was a lot of fun.

The Livestock Show and Rodeo was always good for a field trip day in grade school so I couldn't complain at all except that we had to fill out worksheets and find out stuff about cows and the like.
