PING: All OOTP6 FOFC Owners (Chat tonight)

We are going to set up a chat at our new forum (http://b4.ezboard.com/bootp6fofcdiscussion) tonight at 8 PM CT.

You need to visit the forum and then sign-up and click on the "Join Live Chat" link at the top of the page. Try to sign up with your name at FOFC.

Among the topics we will discuss and try to figure out during the session:
-league name
-league commish (AL/NL presidents)
-Number of protected players?
-Number of draft rounds?
-Salary cap?
-Maximum cash on hand?
-show ratings or base on performance
...
among other things that come up during the chat.
Please be there if at all possible! Think of a league name too.

If you think of anything that we need to discuss please post it here so we have a good idea of what we need to address. Also, if you can't make it just post to let us know that you are still interested in the league but you wont be able to attend. No biggie but we want as many as possible there.

We talked about this in the chat. We just felt it was better to have the statistics mean something more. If a guy is rated a "9" he could be a low 9 or a high 9 while if he was rated "97" or something specific, statistics wouldn't mean a darn thing.

That was our thinking. Personally I like 2-8 like the scouts use. Looks like 1-10 is gonna win. If you can get a petition to get 1-100 included go for it! :)

I've been in leagues that were awesome and leagues that crashed immediately. Participation is one of the most important aspects...however, I agree with the feelings that we "settle down" a little bit. The game isn't out yet, and we don't know how long it will be - some people will need time to get acclimated to how new parts of the game work - we'll probably need to wait for someone to put out a good set of rosters designed for version 6 to take advantage of the new features properly - and more than likely a patch to fix any glaring issues before we get started. At least in my eyes, we have planty of time to work this stuff out. I'm all for getting things rolling and trying to set up a foundation, but not at the expense of alienating and possibly removing FOFC veterans like Skydog, mckerney, et al, for not being immediately involved in the pre-pre-pre-planning stages. I say relax a little, with the grognards we have signed up already, I'm sure things will fall into place for an enjoyable league without the military mentality :)

I visit the ootp message forum just as much as I do here and I get the implication the CBL set is going to get converted to v6. Unless someone's going to work like crazy to do a brand new set for v6. You know what we can talk about while we wait for release...the salary cap. We got some great discussion about this topic during the chat and it would be good to see that discussion reborn so we can get an idea for that.

I've heard differing opinions. Some want what they get. A lot of the small market teams' owners understand what they are getting themselves into and would like the challenge.

I personally would like to see a salary cap but have it be pretty high. High enough that not all teams could even spend that amount of money (if that's possible). I would hate to see teams like KC, PIT and MIL losing interest because they simply have no chance.

I know RPI fan was mentioning that OOTP doesn't do financials too well and doesn't forsee that changing. Just getting some thoughts out there so we can spark that whole thing up again while we wait for release.

A good owner with any team can become a winner in an online league. If the right moves are made teams like Pittsburgh can become winners. I have expierence with turning crappy teams into top teams. :)

I am cool with either one. I would like to see a slower progression too. You figure 162 games, if we do 7 games per sim and 3 sims a week on Mon. - Wed. - Sat. or something we would conclude the regular season in around 8 "real weeks". Then we spend a few weeks on the off-season and get going again. We could reasonably get 4 full seasons in by this time next year. Not too bad to me. Anybody else?

What about 7-8-7-8 days, etc. for the sim length. This would keep people from having to leave a player on the DL for the extra 6 days, but also go relatively slow. 3 sims a week sounds good to me.

I don't think I realized how excited I was about this league until I checked out that temp page we have up. I had no idea to what extent it went to in covering the leauge. With all the stats from all levels, upcoming games, Power rankings, ranking the minors systems, to the history which I think is going to be the best part. We basically pick up where the MLB in 2003 left off. All the records are there, no-hitters, 50+ home run seasons. And now we get to see our guys go after those milestones and even try to break some records. This is going to be great!

Now, back to business. Is there any rumors of a new roster set coming out because I don't see how one could get much better than the one CBL has put out and our league has as the demo page.

If there is one, we will for sure use it and I guess we have until this weekend to figure that out but this one is pretty sweet.

Yes, that's quite a comprehensive roster set CBL Cardinals put together. It has all the hall of famers, records, etc... I'm currently using them in my dynasty. I think these will be converted to v6 and used by most (MrBug) people, unless someone is secretly doing a set just for v6.

With SD previewing the game, we could possibly get off the ground a little faster than expected - unless he finds problems, which Markus would know about sooner anyway.

We have commishes, we need AL & NL presidents, homepage and forum, and what else? FBPro took the NY Mets so were full.

There is the temp site that Mizzou created with the player file we will most likely be using on it.
And there is one that I am creating but haven't published any addresses because 1.) I haven't finished it yet and 2.) we need to find some webspace to host it.
