my team confidence has been wonderful since last week. i logged in today and it dropped to descent. i guess at last nights economic update?
i havent had any player sales lately and im on a 4 game winning streak. the only thing is i pulled a junk youth pull then imediately fired him. any idea why it dropped or how to prevent it. i had 1 psycho, but i fired him because i was afraid of becoming over confident. but i only thought confidence dropped after losses?

I have had that happen before when I have only 1 psycho around, although usually my team just drops to strong. I have considered keeping a 2nd psycho arond to keep my confidence up because I think that team confidence has less to do with determining if your team will suffer from over-confidence than the disparity in the standings between you and your opponent. I got hit with over-confidence for the first time two weeks ago when my undefeated first place team played the 0-6-1 7th place team. Prior to the match, my team's confidence was strong.

I used to have that problem. If you don't have at least 1 psychologist during the Saturday update, you'll pretty much always see a drop in confidence. I've got 2 right now and my confidence stays at wonderful as long as I keep winning.

Maybe you should just stop moddy coddling them. No oranges at half time.

but if i have 1 psycho while my team is at wonderful and on a winning streak, dont i run the risk of going over confident?

only if you play a team at the bottom of the table.
i had wonderful confidence all of last season and never suffered an overconfidence event except once.

I've had overconfidence once, and it came while facing the 7th place team the week after 'upsetting' the 1st place team. I did have Wonderful confidence, and 1 Psycho.
EDIT - Overconfidence sucks...a team I should have beaten badly shut me out 5-0 at home.

Even after I lost my qualification game and third round cup matches (the only two games I've lost so far) my confidence has never dropped below Strong. It regularly goes to Strong on match day now, down from Wonderful.
I was hit by Overconfidence last week versus the last place team.
I won 8-0.
And I had PICed, too.
I wonder what would the score would have been if the team actually tried?

try losing your first league match to the #1 in your serie, followed by a cup home shutout, followed by a scoreless draw at home...
yuck...
confidence all the way to poor or worse.

That's how my season started...cept I won my first cup match, lost my first league match 1-0, lost second cup game 6-0 and my confidence was totally in the dumps. Nice winning streak to rebound now though.

fyi, after my win, my team confidence went back up to wonderful. since i play the number 4 team again this next week, im going to hire 1 psycho and keep him until i play a 7th or 8th place team.
still no idea why it always drops to descent every saturday even though i have a 5 game winning streak.

You have a POOR leadership coach. That's why its happening. My coach is Weak , and that's enough to keep it at Strong on game day.

your coach's leadership affects confidence? that's news to me. i thought it was only TS

From the Hattrick rules:
Leadership. Even if a coach is good at planning training activities, he might be a bad leader, not inspiring players to top performances during games. The team spirit might get spoilt if the coach is a weak leader.
As with much in the Hattrick rules, this is murky, vague and possibly misleading. But I would say the "top performances during games" is a reference to confidence since TS is in the next sentence by itself.
But, again, the rules are often wrong, misleading or vague.

I think your rules quote refers only team spirit. This is from the psychology section of the rules
"Self-confidence: A team with a low amount of self-confidence has trouble putting their opportunities away. Normally, high self-confidence is a good thing, but if it gets too high, players may underestimate teams not as good as themselves. Self-confidence is by large dependent on the results of previous games. Team confidence is reflected in the sector ratings as well."
and...
"You can always hire a sports psychologist to boost team spirit, and above all, self-confidence."
So it looks like the biggest factor would be your record or your winning streak and the number of psycho's (according to what i see in the rules) obviously not everything is in the rules.

Its the "by and large" part where the coach comes in, IMO. Having a Poor coach puts you at the bottom rung of coaching leadership skills, so it is likely, if not abundantly clear.
It seems like the POOR leadership coach explanation fits into the small missing piece in this puzzle.
