Malarky FOFC Edition

I played this game quite often while on deployment last year, and we enjoyed it.

So, Malarky comes to FOFC! I’m looking for five “volunteers”.

The rules:
Things You Need to Know and Things You Don't

The questions presented in Malarky aren't boring old trivia questions. They are the little mysteries of everyday life that we sometimes think about but rarely solve, like why don't we ever see baby pigeons? If you can guess or even figure out the answers, that's good. But if you can convincingly make up your own answers, so much the better! You don't need to know all the answers to do well at Malarky. You just need to make people believe that you do!

There will be five questions in this initial game.

In a Nutshell

A question will be posed via thread to all players. One player will be given the correct answer by PM. This PM will come from me, and will be sent immediately after the question is posted. All the other players will think of a possible answer. Next, players will present their answer in the question thread, within 24 hours of the question being posted. Each player will then vote (by PM to me) for the answer they think is correct. I'll post the results as soon as the vote is completed.

Object: To score more points than your opponents.

You score points in two ways:

1. Post an answer that is so convincing you get others to vote for you.

2. See through all the bluff answers and vote for the correct answer.

IMPORTANT

Repeat answers are not allowed!

Your answer must have one important fact different than the other answers. There are ways to challenge, and we’ll cross that bridge if we get there.

Question: What if I have been sent the right answer, but someone else posts the answer before me?

You are forced into a "Malarky". Make up a bluff answer.

Voting

After all answers are posted, players vote via PM to me for the player they feel presented the real answer.

Players cannot vote for themselves. If I sent you the right answer, just let me know, but it is not necessary.

What happens if you feel certain you know the correct answer to the question, but were told by me to "bluff"? If the answer hasn't been posted, you can do so. When you PM me with your vote, you can tell me that you have the correct answer. Note: An incorrect answer while voting this way will cost you two points.

What happens if you had the right answer and were forced to change to a bluff? You would vote for the person that took the answer from you.

Scoring

+1 A player earns one point for every vote their answer receives (real answer or bluff).

+1 A player receives one point for voting for the real answer.

+2 A player who was forced into a Malarky receives two points for each vote they receive.

-2 A player feels tells me they have the right answer, but do not.

Note: No points are actually earned for “having” the right answer. You earn points by convincing others that you have the right answer.

FOFC participation

Others are welcome to post as they wish, but only answers given by players will be considered for voting. Please do not post answers from the web or attempt to assist the players.

We'll get right to work then. The first question is about to be posted in a new thread.
